Haha. All but one is correct. If you build the multiplier as we've done, you can engineer it to have a safe level of current. Ours has a built in current limiter, allowing for completely safe operation.

I plan on a 3 part series soon, next year, on a 1,000,000 volt multiplier build. It will be the highest DC voltage in Texas. However, unless you have plenty of experience in high voltage, i strongly urge you working your way up to the level of hundreds of thousands. If you design your device wrong- you are gone. One miscalculation and your future is gone... So make sure you're very experienced.

So with the amount of negatively charged voltage you could literally draw fire where you want it to go. I wonder if it would be possible to create a device in gauntlet form that could violently draw fire from a source and using your shielded arm direct it to another target. I wonder how much voltage would be required to direct the flame to such an extent that the flame is “pulled off” the source.

Okay so let’s say you have a glove and you can either charge it positively and negatively. Now you want to see what happens when you rapidly change the charge in the gloves. Does it still attract fire because there are positive and negative ions or wil it act like a magnet en continuously repel the ions and thus repelling the fire?

Hello other 14 year olds. I can assume you've traveled here to learn the techniques of the firebender to impress your friends or just for fun. Before you set your house on fire attempting this trick, I need to warn you that playing with fire is not 100% safe. Depending on what you light, such as a paper towel or blanket cloth, you most likely will start a fire you can't control. I recommend doing this with a candle or a wick that you can put out easily. Safety first.

Take a cord thats attached to the top of the voltage multiplier and a nail at the other end and stick it in a flame and it will be two smooth flames from the one wick. A idea i had 15 yrs ago from this is a fire resistant suit for fire fighters.

Stumbled onto your channel via a suggestion for the 3 volt tesla coil. I've always wanted to build one since I saw one in elementary school (31 now) but always too expensive or too hard to get parts. But will be making one of them this week. Anyway, watched this next, subscribed instantly after seeing what your channel is all about. Look forward to future videos. My question on this video is, is there a way to have something small thay you can either fit in your pocket, or under a chair or something, that would allow you to turn it on, and bend the flame as a magic trick out and about? Or maybe with a little prep of having it under your chair or something? Your shoes should keep you from getting grounded. (Also, since there is music in the video, is there a high frequency whine from the process that is in a lot of electric projects with high voltage? And is this like a Van de Graaff machine?) Sorry lot of questions, have a decent theoretical knowledge on many areas, some practical, but I know I am missing parts of how they connect.

Justin, thanks for inquiring! First off, happy to have you join me. Honored you chose to subscribe. Second, the device needed to fire bend is quite large, it is my voltage multiplier in many videos (and our most recent video posted 3 days ago, it is heavily featured.). I have wondered myself how to reduce the size of the multiplier, and believe it could be shrunk by maybe 50 percent in size. However, that is still huge size. I'm currently working on making a portable micro-backpack sized one for use. Also, you are very observant. No one in 1.5 years has asked that question about background noise. Yes, almost all my devices that are HV make some pretty serious background noise I cut out when editing. The voltage multiplier (mine in particular) is very noisy / scary sounding. Smaller voltage multipliers may not make this angry hissing noise. Then again, smaller ones will not be as powerful. As you mentioned the 'high frequency wine' can be pretty....ear piercing. Plasma Channel Wow, thanks for your quick and succinct response! I suspected that it wouldn't be able to be shrunk too much. But was curious. Also, how does your voltage multiplier differ from a van de graaf machine. (Since I know how to build one of those, I know your machine is more complicated, just curious as to what the difference was. Van de Graaff machines are often used to induce a charge on people making their hair stand up, your machine seems to have a similar effect.)

Great observation about machine effects. So a VM is essentially a higher powered, solid state no moving-parts version of van der graff. I love van der graffs but they are humidity dependent and very very low is current. VM’s use diodes and capacitors to step voltage up from and already high voltage source, and deliver a steady dc current... but if you let it build up, well my largest sparks have a 3 amp pulse at 350,000 volts. Tons more power and no moving parts. However, I believe van der graffs are easier to build, and cheaper.

Plasma Channel Thanks for the explanation! Yes, Van de Graaff machines can be built very inexpensively and need very little to make. A 3 amp impulse? That seems fairly dangerous. As it is my understanding that the current is what is deadly, more so than voltage. As you can be shocked with a taser or stun gun and live, as the current is low. I would think that high of voltage, at 3 amps would do some damage. Although I'm sure is impressive to watch! I can't wait to make that 3 volt tesla coil. I'll be getting parts tomorrow. (Did I understand correctly that it is safe to let the sparks zap you? Or was that a different coil you used when you did that? Also, when you wrapped the ends of the enamel wire to the posts, don't you have to sand the enamel off the ends?

A common misconception is that insulation always insulates. It does not. Insulation only insulates to a certain voltage. The enamel on the wires only suppresses a couple hundred volts. Above that it conducts. The coil produces over 20,000 volts. No need to sand. Also. I recommend buying higher quality bug zapper rackets. Low quality ones often can be faulty. The 3 amp pulses would be absolutely lethal on the VM, except that they are only milliseconds in duration. If even that. It causes muscle contraction for a fraction of a secondond only...allowing user to disengage safely. The Tesla coil is absolutely safe -it was my goal when designing. I often lick the sparks out of curiosity 👍

Great question! Both my hands are charged to an identical voltage. Some parts of the flame are attracted to both my hands. The repelled aspects of the flame are pushed down toward the base
