In north of sweden you can fish ”harr” in the ocean often near a river outlet. Last summer we kept 15 fishes above 44 cm and the largest 50cm. Fly fish only and ”utterbrada”. Really good fish to eat

European grayling tend to be bigger than the average Arctic grayling. Arctic grayling are also more caught on lures like small spinners, spoons and plugs. Maybe because their mouth is somewhat bigger?

@brycealthoff80922 жыл бұрын

When in the year can you fish without waders?
@MrNhyankee7 жыл бұрын
I never fished the Chena without waders.

July is a often a good month to fish without waders, or you can just be a savage and never wear them.

Wet your hands before handling them too! What kind of work do you do for Alaska? Hatchery? Pop studies. My dad used to live in AK using pink salshas to catch grayling.

Braided lines are so much better than monofil lines. Just add a fluorocarbon leader for the sharp rocks.

Can you keep grayling?
@7mm08man6 жыл бұрын
Not on the Chena River due to previous overfishing in the past the populations were decimated. After implementing catch-and-release they have made a dramatic comeback. But there are many other rivers, creeks, and lakes in Alaska where you are allowed to retain Grayling.

If they go for fly fish lures, I wonder if they would go for micro jitterbug baits? 🤔

Why are you not allowed to use felt bottomed boots?
@hanau738 жыл бұрын
Because there is a possibility of transmitting diseases from another body of water.
@michaelashley34456 жыл бұрын
Whirling disease and green algae seeds can be spread through felt waders. As well as these stupid snails.

DO NOT put a reel into water!!!)
@mungo9117 жыл бұрын
I have never owned a fishing reel , 55+ years fly fishing, that you could not submerge in the water! In fact, I have never heard of a reel that would be damaged by being in the water! Geez...
@denisivanov78737 жыл бұрын
Jerry Plaaten russian fishermen are at the opinion that if you put a reel into water or dirt or sand you should stop using it and do a service. it is important in Russia because good stuff is quite expencive but salaries are small... So, experienced anglers advise to keep a reel clean and dry
@hunterhoughton78437 жыл бұрын
Most fly fishing is done standing in the river so they design reels to get wet. Almost every time I'm done fishing I clean my reel off in the river to get rid of dirt and sand. This has been a good practice for me. Although I could understand not wanting to if your resources are few and far between. Both great point of view👍 my conclusion is that when I land the big one I need my reel to perform whether I'm in the river or not. Good luck 🎣

I ment a spinning reel. She put it into water. By the way, Ural grayling preffer microspoons and silver spinners. I`ve never heard that somebody caught that fish with a jig)
