Been there many times. 80 to 100 pound braided, but never tied the hook or sinker directly to it. Use a 30# leader to tie the hook and sinker and attach it to the line. This way if it gets hooked on the rocks on the bottom you don't cut your line, you just pull hard and you only lose your sinker and hook. When the ramp was open years ago, I was snagging from my boat and pulled a lawn chair off the bottom that had 20-30 lines wrapped around each other about 30 feet long and had many hooks and sinkers that I collected off it. Each time someone cuts the line on a snag, it goes somewhere, and does not go away or dissolve. Leaders are the best option and cause the least amount of damage.
