Great tutorial! I fished it yesterday, and got a bite, using a slightly different setup. There was only 1 inch between the 2 flukes. Your setup is better with the wider gap. It gives the bass more time to be enticed by the second lure. Thank you!

Looks like it would be good for bagging doubles on smallies. I’ve had a few times when I’d hook one and another one would give chase while his buddy is on the hook. Thanks for the breakdown on how to fish it. Winter Sucks!

@petersouthernboy63276 жыл бұрын
Note to those “informed “ comments below - like a Carolina Rig, you cannot tie a double fluke rig that is not lengthy at the rod tip. You have to start off your cast with some lag similar to a fly fisherman. That’s why Scott is using 10# braid (very thin) on a long spinning rod. At least with a Carolina rig you have that heavy sinker to help things on your baitcaster.
@Jedhaase8 жыл бұрын
I haven't used the rig yet, but I can already tell that its a fish catching machine.

How is he tying an in-line Palomar knot-can someone direct me to a KZbin video showing me how? Thanks
@themichaeltanner4 жыл бұрын
You can’t. I had to do it a different way. Tie everything first and put it together last. If that makes sense. It worked out though.
@ericcharlton3114 жыл бұрын
mmiikkeett yeah that’s what I’ve done in the past too but I’m trying to figure out if the Palamar can be reverse engineered so you don’t have to pass the whole leader and hooks through the Palomar loop

I love the theory of the rig ,are you using this for Bass or Flounder? If I use weighted hooks 3/8 oz possible to try for flounder in shallow water will this work or tangle up ?

Is that a M or MH rod? When you set the hook does the line break? I have problems with line breaking with 20 lb braid. Power pro
@themichaeltanner4 жыл бұрын
Braid doesn’t stretch so it will snap at its weakest point. Use a flouro or mono leader and it will give some stretch. Helps a ton.

Which bait is more likely to get bit, front or rear?
@bassresource7 жыл бұрын
Rear
@Stratollac7 жыл бұрын
Wouldn't it improve your chances of a second hookup if the free-moving bait was on the longer line? You'll get a straight pull on the hook set on whatever bait they hit first, but if the front bait is tied directly to the main line, there's no possibility that it will slip when trying to hook a second fish. Wouldn't that result in better hooking percentage when a second fish hits the front bait?

Sweet, I'll have to try it.

Silly question ... This rig isn't really for fluke or summer flounder like what we have up here on long Island. It's just the name of the rig, right? Fluke up here are bottom fish ... Which is what prompted the question. Rick

You can't tie a palomar knot onto a swivel that is attached to the main line without sending the entire rod and reel through the loop of the knot. Notice the video cut at that point...
