Used a 2" countdown today off the dam in a nearby lake. Caught 10 channel catfish, 5 bluegill, and 4 bass in one morning. I've always liked the original but I think the countdown is much more versatile.

the greatest lures in balsa, like the floating or jointed and shallow shad rap also ect...! nothing compare to the rest! the true spirit of rapala! i love them.

I use size 7 and size 9 countdowns for walleye in the river where i live. In shallow water. No counting, just cast, rod tip down jerking in a downward motion. Jerk and pause, sometimes 3 jerks and pause. When you pause you will feel what feels like your hung up so you set the hook its either a walleye or the bottom. Husky jerks and original floaters dont work for them its something about the countdown's action they like. Only colors that seem to work are the two original colors.

I have a CD-03 with a specified swimming depth of 2 feet to 3 feet. Does that mean it stops sinking at that depth??? And so it sinks for 2 or 3 seconds only (at aprox 1 foot per second)?

Great video very informative. Would it be ideal to use this lure in saltwater?
@ItaloLabignan5 жыл бұрын
Hi Nathanial, good question. The Rapala Countdown and especialy the X-Rap Countdown with the natural finish are some of my top trolling and casting lures for a variety of shallow and open-water fish, especially when they are feeding near the surface. Check out the GoFish Cam smashes on the Countdown, kzbin.info/www/bejne/ooGphYmqrKZkha8 ...God bless you.

how to use these lures in fast current as lures seems never touch the bottom and run with current instead? thanks

Cast ahead of targetted fishing area and by the time it reaches that location, it should be at desired depth!

Do you run a Fluoro Leader from your braid?
@ItaloLabignan7 жыл бұрын
Hi Scott, depends. If the water is turbid, or you are fishing low-light conditions you don't need to use a fluorocarbon leader. If you are fishing clear-water and especially during intense light penetration into the water (10am to 3pm), it's a good idea to fish a fluorocarbon leader matches in weight to the size of fish you are targeting...God bless you.

Running straight braid can make hooksets more difficult, but for this it doesnt matter. Straight braid works well, and so would having a leader

It doesn't come with a split ring, should I use one?
@ItaloLabignan5 жыл бұрын
Hi James, to get maximum performance action from the Countdown Rapala it's better to use a "loop-knot", kzbin.info/www/bejne/sJ-sapWIapmIbs0 , or use a small snap to allow the Countdown lure "eye" to move freely from side to side...God bless you.
