the level of each spring is in newton divide square ( ^2 ) ...but we hear newton multiplay with distance Nmeter -anyway i remember to my very first ride i should fix each suspension at the middle 5 was ...breathtaking drive for a 15.500€uromony motorbike ready to use ! refill , well 5€urobugs 95octane

Very interesting to see how you modify the bike and BMW shock. I have neither the skill, knowledge or patience to carry out such work so went for the easy option and bought a Nitron shock for my NC35. And while Graeme France was in the process of fitting it I got him to rebuild and upgrade the forks, again much easier than attempting to do it myself because I'm a lazy sod, who much prefers riding to spannering! The result is the transformation of a good handling bike into the best handling bike I've ever ridden in over 40 years. Btw Graeme France can supply 3D-printed copies of the original RVF bar ends, so you can bin those nasty white(ish) plastic things.

Dave, really enjoying all your videos. Very interested in the wrist watch you always have on, can you do a shot of it in your video and tell what it is sometime? looks like a pretty cool piece .

Ah yes, my daily 'beater' is a Christopher Ward C11 pro. Bought used and lightly abused so I'm not scared to work in it

I had an NC35 in the early noughties and had to sell it. Wish I hadn’t it was a cracking bike. One of the best I’ve owned. Am actively considering another but spares availability makes me think twice.

Really interesting good to know that there is a way around having to buy an aftermarket replacement which would cost more and not work as well good work 👍

Interesting. I was surprised when you said the stock RVF spring was 120 N/mm against the BMW's 85. The latter bike is heavier so I would've assumed the spring would've been harder, not softer.

The linkage ratio is the big difference. Back in the 90's there was still a lot of experimenting with linkages, some better than others! There is a more linear linkage available for the RVF but we haven't gone that route yet

Great video as always! It's helpful to watch the thought process you went through to adapt that BMW shock for the RVF400. I need to refresh the rear shock on my 1998 Honda CBR600F3 for all the reasons you mentioned here. Do you happen to know any modern rear shock candidates (that you would consider decent quality) that tend to fit that era CBR without too much fabrication? Looking forward to the next installment! Why is the S1000 rear shock spring much softer than the RVF spring Dave? Is it because of a geometry factor? Interesting video btw 👍
