How to fit a DCC decoder to a non-DCC Hornby 0-4-0 | Tame the Pocket Rocket!

Hornby's Class 06 shunter is a basic model and uses the same chassis as Smokey Joe and other 0-4-0s. I fit a DCC digital decoder along with a stay alive to improve performance.

Not yet - but the lamps from DCC concepts (their red/white lamps are tiny!) are in the project box

Theres nothing stopping you doing that - I fitted an 8-pin socket, but yuo could have used a 4 or 6 pin socket instead.

Typically my Hornby 06 has a different method of connection where the motor has no wire and sits directly on to the pickups so no dcc for that one. ah well try another.

That sounds like the older version of 0-4-0 chassis.
