Just had a Wireless Thermostat fitted by a plumber, this is the best video around telling you how to do it. Only issue we had was working out which connection to put it into in the boiler. Good job mate.

I bought a Honeywell Y6630D Wireless Room Thermostat, which only has a turn wheel type of dial on it, no fancy digital display or anything. So working out if it goes into the 230v connection or the eBUS connection wasnt as easy to work out as you might think :) Works fantastic now in, well worth the effort!

Excellent instructional video, I just installed one of these on a Ferroli combi boiler and the most difficult bit was fitting the trunking and drilling for the wall box! Very simple wiring even for a DIY enthusiast like myself. Prior to this we had no thermostat so were controlling the temperature in the house with thermostatic valves and by turning the boiler on and off which was hopeless! 3 days on we only have the boiler on half of the time and the temperature control is effortless. Top marks for the video, and chuffed to bits with my Honeywell Chronotherm unit. Always sceptical of the range of RF, but our transmitter unit is working fine 2 rooms away from the Relay box in an old house with solid stone walls. My only regret is not fitting it last year and reducing the amount I contribute to the profits of my gas supplier!

***** Just wondering at 10 mins -20 secs in the terminal where you fitted the switching cable is block 72 where the link was .....correct..
@ultimatehandyman
@ultimatehandyman 9 жыл бұрын
Yes, the switching wires replace the link. The relay from the wireless receiver then opens and closes this circuit to switch the boiler on and off.

hi guys. guess what!... done mine and .....success. It works. We did it!!! we did it!!...I mean I did it. Really it was a piece of cake. The guys who made the boiler were so clever to fit the room thermostat connectors outside on the back of my boiler's control panel. it was so intuitive. had to check first anyway the boiler's electric diagram. I had a clue of what I'm doing but your video was so reassuring. thnx ultimatehandyman

Almost missed the double pole switch part as my boiler only had a spur unit in there not sure if it was double of single but changed it out for a double pole switched spur just in case. I installed mine on a Baxi 35/60 was same install only thing I figure out, was I had to turn the temperature dial up on the boiler for it to start working was not sure if it was supposed to be up or down to start with, but now I know and hope it helps others.

In my boiler the red link is not there. One of the two wires connecting the circulation pump is connected directly to the switch entry were the thermostat should be connected. I do have a timer already connected ahead of the boiler: is this the reason they may have changed the way the pump is connected? CAN I STILL CONNECT THE THEORMOSTAT THEY WAY IS SHOWN IN THE VIDEO?

I've honeywell CM921 connected to Ideal Isra24 boiler, since last year the thermostat unit stopped working/connecting to switch the heating on. The BDR91 unit is flashing red light constantly. The heating only can be switched on manually from BDR91 unit (small button next to the green light). I know there is a communication problem between the BDR91 unit and the boiler. I had PCB replaced, could it be because of that? Any help? thanks

@9inety9 It's a CM921 so you can set it to automatically come at different times at specific temperatures throughout the day e.g. 0800 - 20ºc, 1130 - 16ºc 1830 - 21ºc 2330 - 15ºc and so on... The CM927 allows you to set different temperatures and times above but for every day of the week. If you just wanted a simple wireless stat without all the timing features then I would get the DT90E.

@ultimatehandyman
@ultimatehandyman 4 жыл бұрын
This will only set the temperature in the room where it is placed, once that room gets to the set temperature, it will not ask the boiler for more heat. You can either move the remote to one of the cooler rooms (which will mean that it will call for more heat), or perhaps adjust the radiators in the other rooms using the radiator valves. If you are struggling, just do a search for radiator balancing, that should help ;-) Thanks for the comment 👍

My CH is quite a modern system with a combination boiler, motorised valves and TRVs on all the radiators. A Honeywell 9400c programmer controls the timing. There is a frost stat in the laundry room which is where the boiler is located and next to the kitchen so unlikely to freeze BUT there is no room thermostat anywhere in the house. Could I just remove the frost stat and replace it with the sender unit from a wireless room thermostat then place the thermostat itself in the living room?

I’ve tried using the low voltage switched wires and remove the link wire but my boiler stays on all the time, I removed the link wire completely and my boiler still works does this sound right to you? This is why I’m going to have to wire it with 240 V switching

Normally the two switching wires just replace the link wire, as it is just a relay contact on the other end which closes to complete the circuit. Thanks for the comment 👍

@ultimatehandyman

It does not matter with this boiler/receiver as the receiver is simply replacing a link wire in the boiler. When the receiver calls for heat, it closes a contact to make the circuit on the boiler.

How long should the all fitting take? I was billed one hour and a half for that. I think it is a lot too much. I am very opposed to thermostats especially when there are thermostatic valves on each heaters. There is a conflict between the two controls and also you can have the required temperature in a room and completely freezing in another.

I'm going to fit this model next week. What setting do you leave your boiler on once fitted? Constant? Timer?
@ultimatehandyman
@ultimatehandyman 11 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late reply, been having problems with comments for some time. You leave it switched to constant and the thermostat then switches it off when not required

Great video, very helpful, thanks. I am trying to connect my BDR91 from a heatline caprizplus. It has a single connection for Room thermostat labelled (RT) and another one for Frost protection (FP) apart from the live and neutral. As our boiler doesnt have 2 switching wires as in your video, it is confusing as to where to connect it on the BFR91 - do I have to use any jumper leads? Thanks

Not sure, but it might have lost connection with the remote. If you download the manual for the exact version that you have, it should tell you what it means and how to rectify it 👍

I think the maximum is 30M, but best to check before buying it 👍 Obviously, walls etc. will shorten that distance considerably

hi there. great video i have one question - what setting does my manual switches on the boiler need to be in for this to work correctly? all in the "on" position? thanks
@ultimatehandyman
@ultimatehandyman 10 жыл бұрын
Can't remember sorry, this was done years ago. You can soon test it though with the switch in different positions as the wireless thermostat will not control the boiler if the switch is in the incorrect position.

I have mine setup so you have boiler on heat temp middle around 60 degrees but how hot you want the boiler to heat the water up to is up to you but need it to go hotter than you want the house temp or it might take some time to get the house warm, the timer if it had one is not used now so set it to constantly on as the thermostat will take control now, but you did not say which switches you have on yours.

@ultimatehandyman Hiya, firstly a brilliant upload. Thanks alot. Now here is my problem. I have converted my house into two separate flat. Both of the flat has one boiler, as im living in one of the flat, i only have access to that boiler and not the other person living in the other flat. Would you suggest that I put a wireless thermostat in the other flat so the other person can also control the central heating system? What would you suggest? I am confused! Thanks

Hi Great video. My old mum has just had a new central heating system installed (Ideal Logic 24 + combi boiler). Can you advise where the best place to but the wireless thermostat should be please? Some say in the hall (where the radiator has no TRV) others say put it in the room you live in most i.e. the lounge. I'd be grateful for any advice. Cheers
@ultimatehandyman
@ultimatehandyman 10 жыл бұрын
Ours is in the living room, but most people put them in the hall. The beauty of these is that you can move it around with you, so you can set it to say 19 degrees when you have it in the lounge, then just press the down button till it gets to 17 degrees and move it to the bedroom when going to bed.
@eltel8547

I had the same system fitted 5 years ago. If you put the thermostat in the hallway, some way away from the non-trv radiator, it will work fine. Then you should be able to set the hallway temperature at, say, 16 to 18 C, and use the trv's for comfortable temperatures in the main rooms. You can then juggle with timings for best economy. The real advantage though, is that you can carry the thermostat around and close down the trv's in rooms you are not using. I find this saves me about £500 a year, with bedroom temperature 16°C at night and 21°C daytime (and 18°C is fine if I'm very active). If you do this, and the system was properly balanced, the hallway temperature should be about 16 to 18°C anyway. The milky white hot water is quite normal. Because the domestic hot water comes directly from the mains water inlet, It has lots of dissolved gasses and is at a fairly high pressure. Gas is less soluble in hotter water, so the milkyness is caused by lots of tiny bubbles as the pressure reduces and the temperature is raised. The only problems I have had were a faulty diverter valve and motor just outside warranty (expensive and annoying s), and the display fading after 4 years (expensive again.) But overall OK, so your mum should be very happy with it.

At night I turn my thermostat to off , is this correct or shall I just turn the temperature down so the boiler doesn't come on in the night . I use the manual setting .
@ultimatehandyman

I normally just turn mine down to 16 degrees at night, during the day I set it to 19 degrees. I guess if you switch it off you might save some gas

I connected the live and neutral to the boiler in this video but you don't have to. You can connect the live and neutral elsewhere if it's more convenient.
