Fitting cruise control! I would highly recommend watching the whole video first and then following it while doing it. The airbag is a pain.

This was helpful thanks. A pro tip for others as i just did this now and hopefully this saves you some time and effort. He is right the airbag is by far the hardest thing to take out and all depends if someone has taken it out before or not thats how stiff the springs are. Now you can actually see the spring very easily by putting your head under the steering well. Now you can easily and i mean easily lift the spring with a very thin screwdriver over the latch as shown in the video however mine still did not let me pull it off no matter how much force i used. What worked for me is lift the springs so they clear the latch and with another screw driver push the spring back so it sits behind the latch. This is the only way the air bag will release and hold otherwise when you do the otherside the spring will just slip back into place. Trust me airbag 40mins later but cruise control fitted in 5min. Good luck hope this helps.

Probably the best video out there for explaining how to do this. One little thing that may help some others, you can remove the old sliver trim with the airbag in. This then gives you a bit of space to grip the airbag.

I bet if you have a relationship with your local ford service centre(garage) they will turn your CC on for a "drink") It's just a menu in the cars diagnostic screen that they turn to on. Or if you have a service (or as I did,change the brake fluid) they will do it FOC as part of the vehicle health check,that involves plugging the car into the diagnostic equipment anyway.

thanks for the vid bought the same type leather steering wheel to replace the degraded rubber / foam one hope the "new" wheel was removed properly and that i can get the airbag off the stock wheel

I have a twin originAl st wheel with cables buttons to sell if anyone is interested I sold my car st200 2017 . 250 miles . so I didn't make time to have this project done 😀shipping from Sweden a total guide is also written and explain great how manage to get it workin. With forscan box I hope this vlogger will show us how all is working I never seen st with cc before 😀not many on ebay left and I haven't seen any with st and cruise control after I bought mine. Hello All, I was able to activate the CC on my ford fiesta 2010, mk7. it works now. I have a question, don't I need to change any fuse for the CC key or something like that? I was also able to enable auto lock, which is very handy.I have also got experience with ForScan, there are videos for it as well so no worries, you can easily do it. Cheers !

Hi. why is a bad ideea to poke those holes next to the screws? i think by sticking a screwdriver or something with a flat end will push those little metal bars that holds the airbag and will pop out. is it not easier? can you please explain why its a bad ideea to poke those holes?

It would be hard to say as I've never owned one. However if the wiring is behind the wheel like mine was you should be able to get it installed no problem :)

Is yours keyless start? If so, how did you stop the electronic steering lock from staying on? Leave your keys in the car when you disconnected the battery?

I mean.... One of my first steps is to disable that aha. Let's just hope they don't trigger the airbag another way. Could end badly especially if they are holding a screwdriver... Ouch.

Nope, dvla doesn't know if a car has cruise control or not. The dvla will only need to be informed If car has changed colour or the bodywork is unrecognisable from standard or engine swaped with emissions changes.

Sounds like either a trapped cable, blown fuse or you plugged it in wrong

I have the same problem, I disconnected the horn for now. Could you tell me witch wire got in the way? I disconnected the bigger spade connector, but the horn still went off.

@@SamuelSieben I ended up taking it off about 4 times squashing the wires back and in the last go before connecting battery I just kept pressing the and wiggling it about until the stiffness went and it just worked

Yeah just switch the controls which comes with the wires and plugnit in. Activate it and you are all good

Yeah either that and you can ask a dealer or find someone who can use for scan / learn yourself and pick up the cheap tool :) I have a short guide on my channel how to use forscan might be worth a watch

You would need to use free software called forscan with a cable that costs £10ish.. then activate the cruise control :)

You know when you're turning your wheel for the access holes does your steering wheel lock? mine does but mines key start, wondering how to disable steering lock if its a push start

im not 100% sure, its a difficult one if your battery is unplugged. you may be able to remove more of the steering column to gain easier access to the holes?

@@CarRambles OK thanks. Minus the time spent waiting for the residual battery voltage to dissipate, I was factoring about an hour/90mins to do the wheel swap and the Forscan. Probably take half a day known my luck.

@@andrewscott7655 a small thing that helps with removing the airbag is removing the silver trim. The airbag has a bit of a lip on it to get your fingers in if the trim is out.

Hi, I have listed all my questions. 1. Is it really necessary to have donation wheel? I saw on aliexpress, they only sell the Cruise control button an few cable. And maybe I need to buy another silver hatch. I think there is no need to buy the entire steering wheel. 2. Do I have to disconnect the battery? Because we are accessing the airbags? What happen if the battery still stays in? Let say I will open it carefully. And what could trigger the airbag? 3. In other video I saw some guy add the cruise control without opening the airbags. Is that possible? 4. Can I add cruise control button without removing battery and airbags? Some people says it will reset the system. The well known is time and date were reset, dont know if there is any others. And adding information, ford dealer and service is out 5 years ago from indonesia. We still got the parts, but hard to upgrade in case we need something like this CC. Oh ya, I was using ford fiesta 2014 facelift Sport. Waiting for your reply. thanks

1. You just need the trim and buttons. I bought a whole wheel as it was cheaper. 2. Please. Disconnect the battery so you don't have a screwdriver and airbag going off in your face. 3. I highly doubt that's possible... You need to run the wires which go under the airbag. 4. You'll be fine removing the battery. Just disconnect it.

Literally date and time and maybe you may have to re program the windows up and down so they have the one touch system but you do that by getting it to the top holding the button and then releasing and holding for a few more seconds.

Change over to cruise control buttons and get it activated either with forscan or the company I mention. There are many people around that can activate it for you though.

If that model can come with cruise control as an option then I would say yes it can be done, just not sure if that model requires a certain wiring or not

I'm pretty sure you can get this retrofitted yes, you then just need to get it activated! If you can fiesta steering wheel from your cars model that has cruise control I'm 100% sure you can do it

Hey sorry I don't do installs, you can find the correct panel for your car somewhere like eBay that wil give you the right trim and buttons and then just follow a forscan guide and you'll be able to do it yourself if you give yourself a bit of time :)

@@LiamBurkeification it's a pain to do, all I can say is keep at it, try different things tools and make sure you are pushing it the correct way. Once you've got it off you'll look at it and be like ahhhhhh..... Make sure while moving the pin you are pulling the airbag and work left,right,left, right until one pops out
