Job done. Many thanks. The plastic pins/pylons are the biggest issue. The circuit board came off one no problem but the one beside the antenna was a a bit stubborn. I snipped the top off it with side cutters and the board just lifted off at that point.

Thank you so much for this video, it helped me change my FOB casing with ease. The video was super clear, short and very well made showing each step clearly. thank you. off course needless to say I have liked and subscribed to your channel.

The fob replacement I bought on AMZ didn’t come with the thin silicone gasket from the original so I moved it over after realizing I had forgotten it when I snapped the new one back together. Also the “Land Rover” part of the original shell was in good shape so I re-used it. The new fob’s back was plain matte with no branding. Always enjoy your videos!

I don’t think you need the superglue or the soldering iron to secure the PCB in the new case - my new case had a pad of foam in the back that secured the PCB on the pins when the case was assembled. I changed my case about 8 months ago with no issues (although with Covid, it hasn’t been used as much as normal ☹️). Thanks for doing this video.

Same, I was hesitant to remove the pins, but they are very soft and easy to pull through what's left before placing the board with holes exposed now on the new fob. Works a treat! To think the LR main dealer was going to charge over $1,000 for a new main battery and key replacement. Probs an hour's labor for the key alone ( $280 ). $41 for the fob from LR parts, 5 mins of time - job done!

I don't understand why you have to glue/hot melt it in. Surely once the other half is in place it can't move?

Fair point - i guess as the original one had the board "staked" i thought i would follow the same route...but you are correct ...not really needed.

I bought a 2011 Range Rover HSE and have had it for years, but my battery died, and I can't seem to find where to buy the key "blade" part of the key fob to even get into my vehicle. I have the key fob itself; I'm just missing the manual blade. Land Rover says they are on backorder. I ordered one three months ago, and they still haven't processed the order for the key blade. Would you happen to have any suggestions?

No need to use glue. Also you maybe pleased to know the big fat key the early discovery 4s had, that was the same as the 2010-11 RRS and the 2009-2012 l322, you can remove the enternals from those and fit them in these new type keys with just a small bit of nail filling the corner of the circuit board.

I have to question the logic behind Key Fobs of that size which Fill your pocket and you feel like a Pit Pony carrying that great big thing around with you all day as opposed to the older Key Operated type which is so much lighter and easier in your pocket !!!- Has Technology moved forwards or Backwards ??????????????
