Nice job. Amazing what a simple inspection can find, rather then adding it to the land fill immediately upon having any problems. I have a year old Samsung that is going south, and I will be taking it apart soon and if nothing else at least cleaning it with compressed air. My pug mix sheds about her weight on a yearly basis. There could be a few pounds of dog hair in there.

Great info! Thank you for the “How to”. I have a Samsung BD E5900 that won’t play regular DVDs but it will play Blu-ray’s. I’ve tried multiple DVD discs and it spins and stays on “loading” for a minute or so then spits the disc out and says I should clean the disc etc. when I put Blu-ray in I have no issues. It started doing this about a week ago. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hey robert, So I have seen this happen for a few reasons. 1st, of the dvd is a copied or burnt it could cause this, does not sound like your issue but its one reason. 2. The DVD is not labeled for sale or use in the region your living in. They are electronicly coded to prevent fraud 3 has to do with the reason above the internal cpu of the player or control pwb went bad ( not worth fixing ) 4 you lens is actually dirty or has something on it. Dvd uses a different wavelength (frequency) of laser to play the disk its possibly. The frequency need is blocked by dust and not allowing it to read dvd disk but the blue ray frequency still mY pass through the dirt on lens Hope.it helps a little have a wonderful day let me know Thanks for watching and taking your time to comment I truly appreciate it and you Please like share subscribe its a huge help to the channel Thanks again

@@THEMANCAVE2023 Some of DVDs are burnt but I've been playing them for some years now so don't its 1 or 2. I can play them fine in my desktop computer DVD but I realize every player may be different. I did clean the lens of the player but it still wouldn't read any DVDs to include the ones I've purchased and not burned myself. it so the answer may be behind door #3 ^_^ .

Hi Jimmy, Thanks for the informative video first. I have an OPPO 203 UDP, about 2 and 1/2 years old. Each time I press the close button, while the tray slides in,it makes a squeaky,whistling sound . It seems to be coming from the center of the BDP, something rotating. It would be great if you let me know how to fix this annoying noise. Thanks again and have a great day.

There is a a motor and basically a o-ring / belt that goes around pulley that opens closes tray. Check the belt they wear after time , also check the motor and pully. I've used rubber bands before to replace them if need be or o-rings

@THEMANCAVE20235 жыл бұрын
Hey Robert, If the blue ray does not respond, how do you know.the remote is good ? (Just asking for information purposes) If you are certain the remote is good open it up and check the soldering on the PCb board (printed circuit board) make sure it's not cracked or loose. That's were I would start past that point you would need fairly decent multi meter and knowlge to test mossfets on the board.

@THEMANCAVE20234 жыл бұрын
Do you have a dvd/blueray disk installed when you power it on ? If yes take it out and unplug unit foe 30 seconds and try again. Also unplugg unit from wall and take a screwdriver and touch it across the screen terminals ( this discharges any capacitors energy ) that could be holding memory on cpu. Unplug and check all capacitors inside unit. They leak/swell /puff when bad. Replace if so. Also verify the disk your playing is coded to play in your region, disks are coded such to only play in regions they were distributed in Thats were I would start. Thanks for watching and leaving a commet I appreciate it please like share subscribe thanks

@THEMANCAVE20233 жыл бұрын
How old is the player ? If it's several years old the HD hdcp handshake probably will not work with the modern version. But if it's new the only thing that will not play if the blu-ray disk is from another region
@captainwafflemcnubbin453 жыл бұрын
@@THEMANCAVE2023 it's first generation...I had for a very long time
@THEMANCAVE20233 жыл бұрын
To be honest they use a technology called hdpc handshake, this allows the blue ray player and the disk to communicate and the player to talk to the TV via hdmi. I would almost bet that you will need to upgrade your bluray player to a newer model to conform with the newest standard. You could always see if there is a firmware update for your player as well

My Samsung blue ray player turns on and a second or 2 later turns off, on for a few seconds, off in a constant cycle. Any ideas?
@THEMANCAVE20234 жыл бұрын
Generally when they turn on and then off its one of two things. Bad capacitor (can be fixed just replaced capacitor) or just a bad pcb (printed circuit board) not worth repairing. Same problem Ryan and Andrew and Rob (misery and company), in the same time frame, just the last week. I woke up one morning to Samsung BD-J5700 cycling on an off, moving the drive momentarily so that I could hear it. Tried all the online solutions about hard resets, opened it up and disconnected the drive - no difference. Thank you Man Cave for the tip on capacitors but they all look good too. I did a chat with Samsung support and they said it sounded like a software issue that would be repaired soon and I should cycle it on and off every day checking for that fix. I have no faith in this solution since it isn't on long enough to check for an update, but thought I would share what I learned.
@robmodic3574 жыл бұрын
@@justonceinawhile Thanks for sharing. I, too, checked the capacitors and they look fine. I can't see how the machine would connect long enough to download a software fix.

Hi i have a Philips and not power On, i see the fuse and is ok, how i can repair?
@THEMANCAVE20235 жыл бұрын
Did you check the fuse with a meter or just visual? Also you would need to use a multi meter and test the power supply (if you know how to do so safely) If the power supply is getting power to the pcb (printed circuit board) then check for any swollen capacitor (swollen is broken) if none of that checks out it’s probably bad mossfet and it would be easier to buy new unit Thanks for watching !

@THEMANCAVE20234 жыл бұрын
Sounds like the disk is non labeled for your region. The disk and player and hdmi port all created a digital handshake to communicate with one another and to help fight pirated movies. If this fails it will render player unusable until the disk is removed. If the disk is a legal owned copy and this happens it could be a issue with the pcb board Thanks for watching and taking your time to comment I truly appreciate it and you Please like share subscribe its a huge help to the channel Thanks again

Brandi whats up girl hope all is well ! Generally when they say protection and power off one of 2nthings is happening. The disk being played is not allowed to be played in the region your in ( there coded to regions) and or the handshake between the player and the TV is not successful ( this is an protocol to prevent unauthorized playback of disks that are not genuine) ( the disk hdmi cable and TV talk to one another essentially) Let me know if you need anything else have a great evening !
