Great tutorial! Just a small warning, though. I deal with vintage dolls a lot and one type of damage I often see is metal greening/rust stains. If the doll has metal earrings or any metal bit in contact with the plastic, it can stain the plastic over a long period of time. This part of the neck is usually not too visible thanksfully, but I thought it was worth mentioning. It would be especially bad if the metal bar replaced a broken hinge on a visible part. I would say the epoxy offers some kind of buffer against that and is an important step. But ultimately, a stained doll isnt as bad as a broken doll. Just saying this as part of making informed decisions 😊😊

Omg! I had no idea about that! Thank you so much for the info! That's really really good to know. So it just causes discoloration? Or does it cause any other type of damage too? Cuz I know I've had dolls earrings rust. But the only problem was the color as far as I could tell. Thanks so much!

@@Fairiekin just discoloration, yes, as far as I know. It also depends on which plastic and which metal type it is, and the level of humidity (in case of rust). I would personally prefer the hairdryer method on a doll that contains metal. You can try and get rid of it using cream peroxide or acne cream, then put it under heat, same way you do with pen marks. But its long and not always 100%.

@@Fairiekin i think the green color depends on ph levels/ acidity so it would be caused by chemicals leeching out of the plastic with time. As plastic is not always a stable material, especially flexible plastics, and can degrade over time. The same way cheap metal goes green on skin. That being said, I have 90s gymnast barbies with the screwed elbows, and none of them are green. One is rusted due to water damage. I also have a pullip with type4 body (with screws in the knees) that Ive had for a decade. No stains at all there either. The stains I have seen were on doll heads (soft plastic) mostly. I guess if you keep the doll dry, you should be alright. Its a possibility, not a fatality haha 😂

I'm a year late lol but I have some paper clips that are coated in plastic; I think those would work well enough as a substitute for naked wire. I'll be giving this a go to try and fix some dolls soon.

A few notes, I'm sure you could use almost anything to replace the little peg on the inside. It might not HAVE to be wires! And as far as I've seen, super glue works really well if you don't have Apoxie!

It's probably a good idea not to pull the head off. Probably just use a tool or something or something you could utilize to remove the head.
