Hands down.. one of the most competent well rounded & honest mechanics on youtube. You don’t have much face time.. a lot of the diagnosis & brain storming- direct example of what he thinks could be and in the near future or may Become a issue.. A no no nonsense approach to the technical side of automotive care- Jim.. I watched and learned from prior videos to replace brakes and it’s your teaching methods work for me; hands down better then any other channel. Keep up the good work.👍🏻

You must've done this before Jim. I was amazed at how you were able to find the leak locations without using fluorescent dye.

That's a thorough job...right down to checking the temp. My work truck compressor was short cycling. Needs a can or two most years. Been using those short hoses for charge. Finally got some gauges last year to do an addl charge. Just checked the temp yesterday. In a few minutes of driving the AC comes out 41-42 deg. Hard to believe...that's cold. I've been settling for 50-52 deg in previous years. Thanks Jim and KZbin.

I had nowhere else to ask this, and can not find anyone that has helped. I have a 1999 Buick Park Avenue. My A/C stopped blowin out of vents. Floor and defrost only. I pulled the head, table top teched the inside. -5 re-spot solders were needed, as some seperate from the board from age. Thought that may have helped. No go. Correct me if I'm wrong but from what i checked there are a couple door actuator's that are in the dash. I have seen the one by left of glovebox is one that people said replace that one. Just want to be sure. Are they all the same when I order one. Do or would you know which one I may need to replace? Also "2" under left side of dash? I'd sure appreciate it. Love your vids, you've been great help in other issues!

I have a question I am hoping you can help me with. I have a 2008 Buick Lacrosse. On a hot day when I turn on the AC the inside blower will come on high and the compressor clutch engages the compressor and the compressor turns fine. Both of the condenser fans also turn on but no cold air. Here is the strange thing. With the gauges both connected there is no difference between the high side and low side pressures even though the compressor is turning. When the AC decides to start cooling the pressure all of the sudden change as they should (the pressures then look reasonable) and the AC will work fine for the rest of the day. This is an interment problem. I have 2 guesses on this one the expansion valve is stuck all the way open or for some reason the compressor has a problem. What are your thought on this? Have you ever ran into this type of problem? Thank you in advance.

Question! Recently, the mechanic replaced the compressor in my Chevy Impala and charged it and the AC started working fine. It worked great for like a week and the compressor started making grinding noises especially when the car is on idle and upon inspection, it was discovered that the compressor was going bad and the AC stopped working again. Do you think there is something we are missing here or just replacing the compressor again would be fine?

I believe, if you have an orifice tube, you will have an accumulator. If you have a receiver/drier, you will have an expansion valve... Also an accumulator is on the low side, A receiver/drier is on the high side.... so, expansion valve or orifice tube... Receiver/drier or accumulator.... Don't quote me, this is just my belief.

Following up on my AC project today...I am at the mercy of the postal service. I ordered green AC O-rings but they did not arrive as the shipping stated. I did put in the condenser and compressor. I left the seal on the condenser and I had to change over some electrical and brackets from the old compressor. when I took the inlet out of the old condenser, a lot of metal flakes came out. I took the lines off and flushed and blew them out. now waiting on O-rings. NOT going to reuse old ones. Bummed...I wanted to finish this today.

also I should mention, on newer Hyundai`s you can not look at the compressor and tell if it is turning on, there is no clutch, rather it has a swash plate, you will have to use a scan tool and perform electrical checks to properly diagnose the compressor as being faulty

let me start off by saying, I fix my own cars, but no nothing about A\C systems. question for ya, no visible leaks on my system, the compressor comes on, and stays on, doesnt cycle off, according to the gauge on the refill can, systems full, all the fuses and relays are good, the actuator door inside the car is switching, but no cold air, seems like most youtube vids I look at?, only adddress a major leak, or a locked up compressor, which I dont have, Ive googled and watched so many vids and they only address a leak or like I said, a locked up compressor, or clutch not engaging, what else should I be looking at?, not knowing whats wrong is driving me nuts
