Thanks for showing how the repair is done. I had the same issue. Fortunately I was staying at a place with a shop and it was fixed in a couple of hours under warranty. They told me the issue and now, thanks to ya'll, I know what they did and how to fix it if it happens again.

It's just using a soft bristle brush and electronic component cleaner for the communications cables. Spray the socket/plug, brush it off a bit, then spray again. Sometimes, in the heat of the moment, some things get missed!
