Kenny I went into our local Hobby Store where I live in Norman, OK. I ask for a 5x8x2.5mm bearing and the attendant told me that I was the fifth person in the last few days that came in asking for this bearing size. He ask me why the bearing was in such demand and I told him that I was using it to rework a Crosman trigger and he said that he ask the person before me that same thing and he had the same answer. I guess your video has been seen by many and a lot of folks in Oklahoma like Crosman rifles. I bought the bearings and I'm waiting for my Crosman Optimus to be delivered and will let your video guide me through making the trigger better. Thank you,

Just did this modification on a Crosman Nitro Venom Dusk in .22. Took about 10 minutes. Test firing the trigger has gone from approx 8 lbs with a lot of creep/stacking to 2.5 lbs and the safety works. I couldn't get a bump fire either. Bought the 5x8x2.5mm bearing for a $1.00 at our local RC shop. Thanks for the clear instructions.

Those bearings come only in a 2- pack now, here, and the pair are $8! So I tried making an 8 mm donut of PVC. Couldn't make the O.D. concentric, so bought the bearings. It improved the pull a bit, but the Red Tail trigger still has a 1st stage some of the time, and no first stage some of the time. I believe most of the improvement made was simply turning the adjust screw in one turn, making the pull lighter. Don't know what's causing the 1st stage switching. My trigger mechanism looks like the video one, except my trigger blade is solid steel, not stamped/curved steel, which doesn't effect anything.

I know every gun is a little different, but I have done two of the bearing mods on different air rifles and have found the bearing alone to be insufficient. I have achieved a much more refined result by… 1. Adding the RC bearing. 2. LEAVING the trigger return spring in place but WEAKENING it. 3. Replacing the worthless factory-installed “adjustment” screw with a longer one. With the bearing mod alone, you lose the 2-stage trigger but the overall length of trigger pull is greatly reduced. By also adding a longer adjustment screw, I further reduce the trigger pull as much as I possibly can without making the gun unsafe. The result is a very refined, short, crisp pull with 2-stage functionality restored. If you’re a kid, stick with the bushing/bearing alone and remove the return spring and adjustment screw. If you have confidence that you know what you’re doing, go all the way with it.

@@Raven4122.... Depends on which model of airgun you have... most have either 3 or 4... two towards the front of the stock and either one or two at the trigger guard.... it's not "rocket science", but... if you can't figure out how to do something simple, like the stock removal... then perhaps you shouldn't be attempting any trigger work. By the way, if you were directing your question to Kenny (this website).... you will be waiting for a Long time... Kenny past away from cancer Aug.30th last year (2018). first thank you to your family for keeping these videos up. yesterday I bought the bearing and installed it as Ken instructed - it worked ok, ** now I know why he saved that spring and pin as it made going back soo much easier. :D So I chose going back to the longer 3mm 10mm .50 pitch adjustment screw as I prefer the feel of the 2 stage trigger. knowing by the "feel" of that "wall" just before a leetle smooth pressure applied to let it fire just right [for me] so I have the bearing to try on another project. :) very nice fix and adjustment awhile back I bought and installed a 3mm 10mm machine screw - followed Ken's adjustment instructions - put screw in just deep enough so it didnt latch/catch or engage sear when breaking over the barrel - then backed off 1/4 turn [it worked well as I felt the wall, but too hair trigger for me] :o after a few trial adjustments i backed it off around a turn or so - until it felt good to me, just as I like it. :) your results will vary as to what you like. i feel a very smooth stage until the trigger is up against the wall of the firing stage. a little steady pressure. . . I feel it let go and I am happy. :) *yes I did the slap test, the bump test and the safety works fine. [always best to be safe- avoids those holes in places you off target] :O I like the feel and will be ok right here with my consistent groups of pellet holes over lapping each other.

The trigger was so bad on my Nitro Venom Dusk I decided to give this a try. First I checked the trigger pull poundage stock. It was 6 lbs 1 oz .. average of 3 using Lyman. The length of pull was roughly 7/8" before it broke. I followed the instructions and used the 5mm 8mm 2.5mm RC bearing. I left the adjustment screw alone. The results were amazing. The trigger pull weight is now 3 lbs 5 oz .. average of 3. The length of pull is now roughly 3/8" before it breaks. The trigger is no where near a hair trigger as it feels about perfect. The safety functions fine. There is some take up or slop but it is negligible. Overall I'm very pleased. A big thank you !

A quick update I went to Hobby Town this afternoon and picked up a 4pack of the 5X8X2.5mm bearing, after following the video and Kenny's advice and cautions I installed the fix in less than 10 min. and tomorrow I will try it out... And yes to those wondering the bearing fit the F4 trigger perfectly, following the video and taking time in certain areas to make sure you don't lose parts that are quite small I think most folks can do this mod with no problem.

Just did the 2.5mm bearing mod on a Crosman Phantom NP and the difference is amazing. This is THE video to use when fixing a Crosman trigger. The trigger on my Phantom was terrible. It was long, gritty, and the pull-weight uneven throughout the pull. Now she has a light and smooth 1/4" pull. If you feel the trigger is too light you can always put the trigger spring back in. The bearing really shortens and smooths out the trigger pull even with the spring left in. A thorough cleaning and lubing is always good practice of course while you have the gun apart.

You da man Kenny. You ain't gettin' older, you gettin' better .... just like me. Mod worked great on a Titan NP that I had bought as a first gun for my grandson. Now I got a 2 lb trigger that's smooth as butter and no reservations about letting that short human being have a bunch of fun. Thanks Kenny

Thanks for the video. I went to my lathe and chucked up a 1/2" round piece of 6061-T6 Aluminum and turned a 3 x 9 mill bushing. I wanted to see how it would work before going and buying a bearing. The trigger draw was greatly reduced and without the little trigger spring, I now have an excellent trigger. I really don't need to buy a bearing now and with a tiny adjustment at the trigger screw, the rifle is as sweet as can be. Thank you so much for this and all your videos.

@redblue40rc33
@redblue40rc33 5 жыл бұрын
@@chilledandcool3918 takes all tension off trigger but leaves a lot of slack in trigger play.......the spring rests on the pin in trigger housing, so what is the bearing doing?...nothing, just makes pin not have any wobbling slack in trigger....the bearing really serves no purpose other than this...taking the spring out just makes it alot easier to pull trigger back after tightning down on the trigger screw..a longer screw makes the 2 stage grooves on trigger plate easier to set trigger, and have less of pull to set trigger for hairy shots....but if ya get i too sensitive, you might discharge your air rifle by accident just by cocking the rifle and setting barrel in place.....safety is there for a reason, be byaself when ya setting the trigger this touchy...might shoot something or someone!...cheers

I already did the don’ts that you said on your video. Is it possible for you to make a video on how to assemble the trigger assembly. If not, maybe you can take some pictures of where the springs go on the inside? I had alreadyTaking it apart before I watched any videos it said not to take it apart.

Thanks for all of your great work on the videos. You have become one of my "go to" information sources for air guns. I just did the 5x8x2.5 fix on my Benjamin Titan. I am very pleased with the results. However, I forgot to remove the adjustment screw, which is the original stock screw. Will that cause a problem at all?

I done a similar modification to my Benjamin Prowler 22 cal I went the cheap route fabricated my own bushings instead of using the RC bearings. And it made a big difference and it was satisfactory. I recently purchased a Crosman F4 .177 caliber and after shooting my Prowler for a while my new gun trigger sucks..... and I have got to upgrade it.... so I know what to expect out of the trigger mod that I've already performed so my question is at the end of that video you mentioned that you were going to rebuild the trigger assembly put the adjustment screw back in without the spring and see how that works... and I'm curious to know the results what is your opinion? Thank you

Hi Kenny. Can you tell us if the trigger is smoother with the bearing? Or is it just kinda a spacer? Would the bearing AND the long adjusting screw work together? Still allow for adjustments? Thank you!

I used the 5x8mm RC bearing fix on my Crosman fury II blackout (TR77) I removed the tension spring and it has a sensitive trigger pull now. and the safety works, I was actually shocked at the difference, the only thing is that there is play in the trigger you can actually wiggle the trigger foreword and backward slightly and I have owned just about one of everything with a trigger (and never experienced this before) not sure if this is normal or not (for this mod) but it’s a small trade off for the lighter trigger pull….it was just awful. And if you have spent a lot of time shooting the rifle the way it was …practice ,practice, practice….not just to increase your accuracy but it will take time to get use to it from a safety stand point! Where last time you shot it you probably didn’t mind having your finger on the trigger well before you were actually ready to shoot…..not so now !

I did it as shown. It worked perfectly. To be clear all I did was install the roller bearing (5x8x2.5mm), I did not touch anything else. The trigger pull is much shorter and quite a bit lighter. My gun is a new Crossman Nitro Venom Dusk in .22 Caliber. I just bought it in late September. My first step was to ditch the scope that came with it, then I added an old Weaver 4X I had as a spare. This was an improvement but the trigger always bothered me. Next I'm going to remove the scope and install open sights. The plastic thing on the end will go in the spare parts bin, there are no internal parts to it, all it does is slip over the barrel. I 'm not planning on drilling a hole in the barrel then tapping the hole to screw the front sight in. I have some super duty epoxy and I'll use the adhesive to hold the front sight in place. The rear sight is a pop up with two apertures both large and small. It is also adjustable for windage and elevation. It will fit on the rear rail. It's just an experiment to see if I like it better. I had a Benjamin when I was growing up, it had open sights and I was pretty good with it ..... I'll guess we'll see.

David Bachelder + That sounds like an interesting rifle. West System epoxy? Yep, the new epoxies are very strong. I hook my slings on top, barrel and stock. Leave enough length to allow raising to the shoulder. Developed it for my M16 in the Cav. It allows, while carrying on the sling, the rifle always ready to lift to the shoulder.

My Crosman Optimus was hanging. I opened it, and found that pulling the trigger releases the lever that stops the spring release, but there was a small lip that hooked and held. A touch with a file or a stone to take this down, and it released every time.

I pulled my entire trigger apart. I ditched the adjustment screw and the disgusting trigger slack spring. I must say I was appalled by the crude machining. So I cut 3/32 off of the sear lap and polished it. I squared the disconnect then matched it to the sear and polished it also..I then cut the bottom of the sear stop where it rests on the trigger pivot down gradually until there was zero back lash on the trigger. I had to peen the center of the safety trigger inward where it makes contact with the trigger to tighten up the tolerance because the slack was more then my sear travel making the safety not safe. Then I decked the sides of the trigger to allow clearance for s.s. shim washers so it has zero side to side play...Let me say this..Not even the same rifle.. Smooooth as silk, breaks like glass. Its running about 3 lbs and 3/16 travel. I did the whack the butt with a rubber mallet trick a bunch of times, solid as a rock..

First of all, thank you for this video! I have a Crosman Fury II Blackout. The stock trigger was a nightmare being excessively long and heavy. After going with the 5x9x3mm bearing fix and the small spring removal as shown in this video, it was like night and day with the ease of pull and travel now. It is amazing how easy and cost effective this fix is! One thing about doing this (and this may be on my model of gun only) is that it rendered the safety non functional. But this should not be a problem if trigger discipline and basic gun safety rules are followed.

Hello, good and peace to all!!tell me people who did the upgrade.Everything is clear except for one thing when at the end of the video he unscrews the bolt that needs to be lengthened by 8 mm, as I understood, and puts a spring on it that took off the trigger so it turns out, whereas in other videos just a bolt is replaced, but there is not a word about the thread.Please explain

I striped down the hole trigger unit easy to do smoothed out all the touching surfaces on the sears, they where rougher than any trigger i had done before. Anyway i got them flat and even and polished to a mirror finish, i then did the bearing mod put a longer pull lengh grubscrew in a lubed it up its now in a different league i can get the trigger pull down to 1 1/2 pound but i set it at 2 1/2 pound it was to light. Its safe and wont go of if banged. I am going to do another but i am going to make new sears that fit better and that are flawless.

I hope the bearing mod still works. got the 2017 crosman stealth shot today. and the trigger looks nothing like this. solid piece instead of the hollow backside trigger, less rounded design. short trigger pull before I've done anything with the adjustment screw. noticable second stage but a little to hard.

Finally figured out there is a third stock screw to remove! Do I feel like a dummy! Got the trigger apart and put the bearing in tho it appears mine was a tighter fit than what your video shows and putting the trigger pin back in was a tight fit too. I removed the trigger adjustment screw, and put all the parts I took off in a safe place. Should I be concerned about the tight fit bearing?

Wow! I wish I would’ve done this from day one. I shot five hundred rounds through this gun and was so mad that I couldn’t hold a group that I tried to return it to Walmart. Walmart has a no return policy so it sat in the corner of the house for three months. I came upon this mod and gave it a shot after seeing people claim tighter groups. I will shoot tomorrow and see if it helps mine out at all but I can say the trigger is night and day, and now feels like one I can shoot with confidence. I hope so because this gun shoots so quietly and has a lot of power for a .22
