We got it!! Thank you so much for this tip. Turns out one stick of RAM on my inspiron had a little corrosion on the connection port along with some gunk on the mother board so I used a drop of WD 40 on a small acid brush. Cleaned up everything, swapped out the sticks like you said, all checked out good.

thank you so much and thank god I found this video! so my school computer, which is similar to the computer you used but my school computer unfortunately only has 1 ram stick. in the middle of the day just turned off and every time I turned it on only showed this code. Ma'am what if the battery is connected and I plug the adapter the orange/amber led light blinks non-stop . but if I remove the battery, and try to power it on using the adapter the led lights does not blink and there is no sign of power. The adapter is working BTW green led is on when I plug it.. what part could be faulty?

Some laptops will not turn on without the battery installed. It depends on the model. Does the battery hold a charge? Sometimes repeated 1 1 blinking can mean the battery or the charger is faulty.

You need to set the date and time in BIOS. That's what causes the time-of-day not set error. If you are still having problems after that then you may need to reinstall the operating system. Let us know how it goes.

My dog accidentally spilled a glass of water onto our laptop. I took the recommended procedures to get all the water out. Once it dried up, I decided to turn it back on, and it only displayed a black screen. The screen flickers every now and then when I press the power. When it does flicker, it's a very quick process. The light code I was getting was 4 white, then 2 orange. After watching this video, I now suspect that the ram is what failed. There is also another issue that I'm having with this laptop. Whenever I try to turn on the laptop, the caps lock light stays on. It never turns off. I haven't replaced the ram yet. Is this something that bad/damaged ram can cause? Can faulty ram cause the caps lock button to light up? If not, why do you think it's always on? All of these issues began after my dog knocked a glass of water onto the laptop's keyboard. Could the keyboard possibly be faulty? I hope you have a good day! Thank you!

It could be the RAM but liquid damage can cause a lot of problems. Can you get it to display to an external monitor?

I actually tested my theory of the ram being bad. I had another computer with the same type of ram. I put the ram in the broken laptop and it turned on, and booted into windows. The built in screen worked perfectly. It turns out that the ram was the problem all along. I have ordered new ram for the laptop. I must've got lucky that the ram was the only thing to go. I attempted to scrub the faulty ram in 91% isopropyl alcohol because it had corrosion on it, but that didn't change anything. I'm assuming the ram probably short circuited due to the corrosion caused by the water. I'm lucky that this was such an easy fix. I also tested the damaged ram in another laptop just to make sure it was actually bricked before throwing it away. As I suspected, the computer didn't boot with the water damaged ram installed. By this point, I was 100% sure that the ram was what was causing me the nuisance. Thank you so much for helping me fix my laptop! Have a great day!

We say in computers if it happens once its a glitch if it happens twice its a problem. If you don't have this problem again then don't worry about it was only a one time glitch. If you have it happen again then check the RAM.

I've done this several times now but I'm still having issues with my laptop. Apparently there's an error with my primary battery but my laptop freezes after a couple of minutes so I can't verify the issue. Any ideas?

What have you tried to fix it so far? Does it give you any sort of error before it freezes? Also I would check your Windows log to see if it is recording an error at the time it’s giving you the problem. You can access your windows logs by going into file explorer, right-clicking on this pc, clicking on manage, expanding the folder Event viewer, and expanding the folder Windows Logs. I would check applications and system look at the date and time to see if there are any errors logged for when you were having the no sound issue. You are looking for errors that have a red or yellow symbol next to them. If you see one that fits the right time. Click on it and you can google the Event Id and source for solutions to this error.

LED code 1 4 is a bad coin cell battery or CMOS battery. Most common reason for this error is your laptop is not charging correctly causing the problems with the CMOS battery or the CMOS battery needs to be replaced.
