As someone who's just starting to get into 3d printing prop making and cosplay this is honestly the best channel I've found, just really good practical tips

I will tell you if you are in a hot or humid area like me, you have to thin more than they say, I sometimes even have to thin paint made for an airbrush, also with the airbrush when painting acrylics which are water based you will nearly always get tip drying on your needle which will clog the paint, I keep a very soft new toothbrush and about every minute or so dip it in water and gently rub it over the needle, good to go again.....keep up the work....the pastel with mod podge is great tip

A tip for chipping- you can use hairspray instead of chipping medium. Either decant it or just spray it on directly
@brungerbuilds5 ай бұрын
Great tip! Is the hairspray activated by water the same way? Also, can it be sprayed through an airbrush?
@Vortagh5 ай бұрын
@@brungerbuilds No, you spray it right from the can. Unless you have just a smaller area to spray. However, in that case, I think it is a lot easier to just mask and spray, instead of decanting it.

@@brungerbuilds Yes to both. I’d test it out first but that’s what I use

Watching now. Figured I'd give some thoughts while watching -No corny youtube intro video. Straight to the point. This is excellent. -Stating where you got the files and also listing things in the description is super helpful. -Never thought about using superglue to have something set faster so the epoxy can do it's work. Great idea. -Yeah, people say a milk consistency for airbrush paint. Maybe they mean skim milk. lmao -Have you tried the paint chip method with masking liquid / liquid latex? -Cheap acrylic paint is perfect for weathering. Have you tried oil paints? I love weathering with those Great video overall. keep up the good work. but maybe have some small projects lined up so if you can't quite make the weekly deadline you can do something more simple for that week's video.

Appreciate ya! I plan to try out the masking liquid technique on a future build. I’ve seen people use kid’s craft glue and achieve similar results so I’ll probably give that a go! I haven’t tried oil paints yet since I’m pretty happy with how the acrylics work, but maybe sometime in the future! Definitely panning to add some smaller projects here and there to give myself a break, but this next one I have in the works is gonna be big work 😅

I think the brush you used has bristles that are way too hard for this job. I'm coming from miniature painting and scale modeling, but I would personally never use such a cheap pig-bristle brush. At least to me, who does stuff like this on smaller scales, this seems like using a wire brush. Same goes for using the other side of the brush. It seems way too flat to result in anything but large scale demolition. Try a softer synthetic brush, both a flat head as well as a "classic" brush. Something like a size two for better control. I'd also rather use tooth picks than the back of my brush. Way finer control. I always spray two coats for best results and yes, thinned. Works like a charm. I think the uncrontrolability of the process is part of the result, on larger surfaces.

Also, why did you paint yellow, chip it, then paint brown and repeat the chipping? Just paint everything and then do one chipping session. It will look ever betterr, because now you have areas that are chipped and then go straight into pristine paint. That doesn't look like natural chipping. Why did I scrape my helmet, losing yellow paint, but somehow the brown paint right next to it, is pristine? That and it is just more time efficient. Still a great looking helmet!

@@Vortagh Definitely will do that next time. This was my first time 😅
