Good video. Do you typically need to compensate for the (existing) settling of the untouched pavers? By way of extra sand, extra tamping, etc? Won't the repaired area tend to settle lower now?

We cover how to repair settled pavers in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z4fJk6icdtqLkLs If the settling and failed edges are repaired properly, then there shouldn't be any more settling that occurs.

I had a contractor install a unilock paver patio last 2017 and after a year I would to call them to fix to corners that were sinking. I had to call them every year to fix until they refused blaming it on the ants.do you think the sinking pavers were caused by ants or improper installation?

How far past the edge of the pavers does the gravel base extend?

Cheers, gonna fix the edging on my driveway.

Awesome. Sometimes driveways need something more substantial than plastic edge restraint. Auman Landscape has a great video about how to use Perma Edge in driveway applications. You can view it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oWSXeGqnp5uHlbs

Doesn't the sand eventually settle down into the gravel? I've seen in other videos where they use smaller pea gravel that tends to lock into the large gravel.
@WesternInterlock2 ай бұрын
No it will not settle into the gravel too much. We never recommend pea gravel or any other kind of round rock that isn’t crushed.

Is it just sharp sand and cement its laid on
@WesternInterlock Жыл бұрын
This is laid on a base of 3/4"-0 crushed gravel and a bedding layer of ASTM C-33 sand.

How would this work beside a fence line with the snap edge? I’ve got a failing edge right beside my fence and I don’t think I’d be able to get the snap edge in there
@WesternInterlock3 жыл бұрын
We recommend keeping the pavers back from any fence enough to allow for edge restraint. I would pull up that outer row and move the edge back the width of the pavers you removed. You can fill the space with pea gravel, river rock, decorative bark dust or something similar. If you don't want to do this, if you can get a 4" trowel in there, there is another option. Since this video dropped last year, a new product called Perma Edge has hit the market that works awesome for limited access situations. We will be dropping a video about how to use Perma Edge in a week or so. Go to www.permapaveredging.com/locate-a-distributor to find someone in your area that sells it if you are interested.

What if the paving is directly next to concrete driveway?
@WesternInterlock Жыл бұрын
Depending on the situation, you may need to do more intensive repair if the base isn't up to the task of supporting vehicle weight. You may need to pull up what's there and add more base or incorporate some geo grid like we did in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/l5q9ZGp8rpqXnqs

snap edging is part of the problem. Almost always fails. Concrete is better.
