How to Fix a Ford Mustang 3.8L P0303 Engine Misfire No-Cost Repair

Intermittent rough running finally set a P0303 DTC. A visual inspection under the hood with the engine running revealed sparking at the ignition coil near the #3 spark plug wire. I replaced my air filter ,, yep , air filter when I was having those codes. I took the car to ford first and they couldn't replicate the problem So we replaced all the ignition related stuff Then we cleared the code.. I went 20 MI b4 the code came back . I was fed up and going to trade it in so I got a new air filter to make everything look up to snuff . The filter wasn't even that dirty .. Soon as I replaced the filter , and clear the codes I took a drive up to the ford dealer to car shop .. Funny thing though , the light never came back on .. So I drove it back home to play with it to see if the code would come back .. The code NEVER came back! Idk y but those v6 stangs are incredibly sensitive to a clean filter . Sounds stupid , i know but that is how mine got fixed.. A little 10$ cone filter

I need help, I got a 1999 v6 mustang 3.8L and it misfires whenever it idles specifically when it gets hot and when I scan it it shows that cylinder 5 is bothering the car, but when I accelerate it runs completely fine, I’ve already changed spark plugs, injectors and checked compression and it was fine, I don’t know what else it could be

You should show videos after a couple of days because what you did was basically a "ECU reset" when you unplugged the battery....the symptom or the CEL light can come back usually after a few miles. The RTV silicone might work as you claim. Good luck

M Giovanni yes, good point. I probably did clear the codes...but it has been 4 months now since I did this repair job, and the car is running well, the check engine light has not come back on... thanks for watching and commenting.

Anyone with the whining Ford power steering pump.. I usually start by removing as much of the fluid as I can with a pump or a turkey baster, replace with with fresh Mercon V.. Repeat several times after driving, until most of the old fluid has been replaced. I then pump out as much of the clean fluid as I can, and replace with Lucas power steering stop leak.. Totally stops squeaks, squeals and hard spots.

Use harbor freight hand pump less mess etc Lucas steering conditioner helps wine

@@drizzlecan1199 I use a small electric pump..The extraction end will fit into dipstick tubes and tight places, it's like 1/4 inch.. The other hose is like 3/8ths and the fluid drains from it. Works off of the 12v car battery.

Usually that's a spark plug or spark wire. The electric spark has no place to go so it jumps out the side

Plugs and wires are fine. I did this repair 18 months ago, and it's still running perfectly.

Do I disconnect batterie first or is it OK just go straight to cleaning

For the repairs I document in this video, I don't think there was any need to disconnect the battery.

Well, in my case, the problem was neither plugs, wires, or coil packs. It was the ignition module, the base onto which the coils are connected.

Plug gap kills a coil and wires.

ITS A COMMON THING WITH THESE 3.8 LITRES ESPECIALLY .. THESE"GENUINE MOTOCRAFT" COILS, THEY ARE "JUNK". JUST BUY AN AFTERMARKET ECHLIN/BLUESTREAK BRAND AND THERE WILL BE NO MORE PUSSYFOOTING WITH IT AND WASTING YOUR TIME. TY
