I get them like that all the time..once I've get it going i call them up and tell them what happened to it and they can come pick it up and they say just keep it i bought a new one..lol..i have gave mowers away to folks who needed one and they are so happy...everyone needs a hand sometimes..

I learned that lesson myself on my mower and now always tilt it air filter up to work underneath. I didn’t have to replace the piston. 😄

I love free mowers!! I have acquired a few where they thought it was shot due to severe smoking. I found the air filter was soaked in oil.

My son got one that was full to the top of the dip stick one year old. Worked great after he dumped out the excess oil.

Got a cheep mower that way, it was hydro locked . Emptied about 1/2 qt and it was the correct level than , ran it for about 10 mins. I bet my neighbors were thinking I was sending smoke signals. After running it , changed the oil and it’s been fine since 4 years later And I have never had to clean the carb. Ended up putting in a new plug.

I've got a Briggs 175cc Professional Series engine that has an annoying miss. I've replaced the carb, adjusted the valves (.004 in - .006 ex), checked the ignition coil gap (.012), checked for damaged wires, and tried different spark plugs. It's 7 years old and does the job, but it really bugs me. Any suggestions? Thanks. I've learned many things by your vids.

From watching other vids, there is a flywheel key that may have slightly sheard which will disrupt the timing.

It also happened to me to check the oil that there is not too much because if the oil exceeds the limit it will smoke

yep i tipped the wrong way oops but i took off the air filter it was clean and it wouldn't start you think oil is in my carburetor?

oil could have fouled your spark oplug

it is probably a contaminated fuel system. Clean the gas tank and carburetor.
