This worked perfectly, a shot glass fell into the garbage disposal unknowingly. We turned on the garbage disposal and heard a big crack! We had to completely take out the garbage disposal since there was broken glass everywhere. Cleaned it up, and got rid of all the glass, but still wasn't turning. The humming was happening, and I took a screwdriver to it, there was a piece of glass stuck on the side. This fixed it immediately, thank you for your hard work and the tips!

Thank you, Mr. Wakefield! I'm a 78 yr old widow, and was frustrated when my disposal this morning just hummed and didn't work. I was thinking "maybe it just died" because I don't ever put big food trash in it. No onions, potato peelings, bones, or egg shells,etc. I was thinking I might need to hire a plumber or get a new disposal. I found your video directions plus your tips about not putting rice, pasta, lettuce, or cabbage in it. Oops....might have done that a little. Could it just have gotten clogged? So out to the garage I went, found the plunger, and followed your directions. It wasn't difficult at all to do, as you had promised. And, it worked! Hurray! I'm proud of myself for fixing the disposal and thankful to you for providing this helpful video.

OMG!!! Fixed my disposal in less than two minutes using this trick. I was just about to spend $200+ to replace the disposal after trying the Allen wrench and even dismantling the disposal. I didn't want to use my plunger so I used my broom handle and BOOM! My disposal is up and running. Thank you so much for this video. This was so helpful! I was about to call a plumber but watched this and gave it a shot. Turns out he was right! There was a lid to a spice jar that got shredded in there and stuck. after a little elbow grease I was able to get all the lil pieces out and it's singing now! thanks for your help :)

Thank you so much for your expertise. I used the end of the stick and rotated it back n forth until it was free. I still heard something clunking inside the disposal. I turned it off and used a flashlight to look down in there and I didn't see what it was. I turned it back on with the flashlight looking inside and a small piece of metal shot right out in the sink and it was working great again. You really helped me, Roger. Usually I've used an Allen-wrench underneath the disposal, to get it working again. And it always worked. But this time, the A-wrench wouldn't even turn, which made me uneasy. So I found your video. I've never used a large, long wooden dowl in the inside of the disposal to unclog it, before. I wasn't even sure if I was doing it right. But turning it around like a "witch's brew" did something! Because when I turned turned the dowel around for a while, then used the wrench again underneath, the wrench was able to turn. Then, I turned the wall-switch on and---IT WORKED!! Your details and suggestions were very helpful, and gave me confidence. I hate calling my property owner and bugging her. So you saved me in more ways than one :) Thank you and bless you!
