How to Fix a Leaking Sink with Wickes

One of the most common and frustrating problems in the kitchen is a leaking sink. Learn how to fix a leaking sink with this step by step guide from one of our Wickes experts.

A leaking sink is generally caused by the washers, between the sink and the strainer. These are the steps to fix a leaking sink:
1. Turn off your water supply in accordance with your water supply.
2. Remove the cabinet doors to ensure easy access below your sink.
3. Place a bucket or container under the strainer.
4. Unscrew the two nuts that hold the waste pipe in place (you may need a wrench to do this).
5. Once undone, remove the pipe and empty the water into the container
below.
6. Disconnect the overflow pipe and unscrew the screw holding the top of the drain to the strainer.
7. Remove the lower half of the strainer unit and lift out upper half of the strainer unit.
8. Clean up the hole.
9. Place the top half of the strainer with the thinner, wider washer on top.
10. Underneath, place the thicker washer and the bottom half of the strainer onto the protruding part of the strainer hanging from above.
11. Use a screwdriver to tighten the screw.
12. Reconnect the trap and the overflow pipe and turn the water back on.
