Thank you so much for this video! It was just what I was looking for to alter my scrub tops that do not ever come in petite sizes. I have some sewing experience but not enough to do the suggestions the haters commented. Darts and undoing the seams and hemming the back? What the...??? Anyway, I'm going to try it first on an older top in case I don't get it quite right the first time. Thanks again and keep up the good work!

Hoi, , some time ago I used a piece of wide elastic in almost the same color of the shirt to make the neckline less deep! And afterwards I sewed some rhinestones and small pearls onto the elastic. I have to do everything by hand cause I really can not work with a sewing machine!! Love from Pinkie

This is a common problem for us petite gals. The problem is that because RTW designers design for average heights (not for petites), the armholes do not fall in the correct position (too big, too low) on our body. Buying another size usually is no help. Good tutorial.

Thank you very much for this tutorial. It made sense. I have to edit the neckline of my scrubs (tops) because they’re too low. Got them from Goodwill. Thanks a lot!
@JRT55735 жыл бұрын
I have taken the back pocket off the scrub pants and attached it to the underside of the neck to create a privacy panel (sewn to the inside seam on one side of neck, and securing the other side with a sewn in snap to leave open and allow head space while putting it on.) The top of the pocket is hard to remove with all the reinforced stitching, so I use a straight edge razor and cut between the fold of the pocket carefully so as not to put a hole in the pants back. Try on often to figure out placement of pocket and snap.

Not everyone can reconstruct a garment. You also, need to remember that bringing the fabric up any amount of inches is also, bringing it up from the waist area. That could mean making it look too short or revealing a stomach or rear end.

You're welcome, I'm glad to help! Do you prefer men's tshirts, or do you just have extra ones?
@curious88906 жыл бұрын
I've bought so many tshirts for my husband that I liked but didn't come in women's. Since he has so many he doesn't mind if I reclaim them. I followed a video on altering a tshirt to make it curvy but the neckline has been challenging. So far I've only cut off the ribbing just above the seam so it didn't come too loose but loose enough to look feminine. They have the added benefit of 3/4 length sleeves which I like because I sew from the bottom hem all the way through the sleeve hem. Thanks again :)

Wondering when fashion designers will catch on. We could probably avoid so many clothes from going to landfill. Few wear or enjoy wearing the low neckline these days
@dshe86373 жыл бұрын
I wish manufacturers would make clothes with better necklines. Too often clothes look good on the hanger, but after a few hours wearing, they are no longer suitable for normal wear.
@peppermintmelon4260 Жыл бұрын
a tailor just ruined my dress huhu. I asked him to fix the low neckline but almost everything went wrong. The back of the neck went kinda high which makes me feel as if I'm wearing an ID sling. The armpit opening is also not equal. The right side was way kinda tight to my armpit. The silk fabric was also ruined by the needlework. T_____T I wish I did the altering by myself

Good grief just put darts in the shoulder seams! Half my blouses are fixed that way.
@elenaneens13265 жыл бұрын
Do you have a video?
@jesshothersall5 жыл бұрын
Sitting here trying to work out how a dart would help? If vertical, it would make the neckhole wider, if from arm top to neckline, the neckline end of the seam would end up lower than the top of the arm/shoulder, and that would look odd? Anyhow it always helps to see a thorough way of doing things. She was also catering for/educating beginners including non machine owners starting out, who may not even know what a dart is, let alone how to make them yet...Do make a video demonstrating your system, that would be much more helpful than just criticising this one?
@kaiannyang6 жыл бұрын
PLEASE ANSWER! ok so I did this and the neckline went up and the left arm is fine but under the right arm the fabric bunches up? what do i do to fix the bunching up under the armpit?
@ScrappyTreasures6 жыл бұрын
Oh no, I'm sorry about the bunching! I think that might be to do with the armpit's curve. Try tracing the curve you have on your left armpit onto a sheet of paper, and mimic it onto the right :)
@kaiannyang6 жыл бұрын
Scrappy Treasures ok I will try this ! thank you!
