HOW TO: fix a quad/atv/pitbike that has no spark

I am sorry I forgot to add the electric starter circuit to the vid. (Positive wire): battery -> 30 amp fuse -> ignition button -> red wire or yellow/green on solenoid. (Ground wire) -> frame -> green or black on solenoid. (Main ignition wire) battery -> solenoid-> (comes off other pole) -> starter motor. Hope this clears things up

This video actually helped me identifying what was the problem on my atv was I didn’t know how check those coils thanks to you was able to find that the red and black coil didn’t give any voltage so I opened it up found the problem fixed it and now the engine runs it’s not tuned at all yet but it runs thanks man

Hi, great video, I did all the measurements and on my red-black wire there is only around 6 volts instead of the shown 15-16 volts. What can cause this? Brand new complete wiring harness with everything (switches, solenoids and so on). Looks like the ignition solenoid would made to a 6V system

I saw how you connected everything but how do you turn the motor over what two wires do I connect or what push button do I connect to start the motor

To get the motor to turn over you have to provide 12v to the starter solenoid

Sorry, forgot to add that to the vid. Basically the solenoid is an electric switch, 12v to the yellow/green, or red depending on the solenoid and the other grounded will allow power to the starter motor

Why doesn't my bike have spark? It gets power to the sparkplug but I can measure it only by putting negative on the tester to battery's negative it doesn't show anything if I put the negative on the frame? And I have brand new spark plug

My cdi is powered by the battery. And i have no spark. What could be the Problem?

Check the 12v lead to the cdi, and check whether the pickup coils still work. some cdis require 2 12v leads, really depends on the bike. Usually I'll find a wiring diagram online and go from there

Did you test it at the stator/magneto? Is the flywheel clean? could also be dead out of the box I've had that happen to me

@@-C_r_y_p_t_o- battery level shouldn't effect spark to much. rig it up to some jumper cables and crank it over, if its still not.sparkin start go in thru and diagnosing components
