A quick lesson on the importance of spreading out roots when up potting or planting your purchased trees. (untangle the roots) I can remember the first time I put a tree in the ground. I dug the hole 2 times the size of the container and planted the tree. Five years later it died, and when we dug it up it was it was apparent that it actually choked itself to death which is called root-bound. The roots started circling the hole, keeping the same shape as if it was still growing in a pot. Our soil is a high clay soil which we have since learned to disturb at minimum 3‘ x 3‘ per tree and untangle the roots so they can spread out equally in all directions. This is very important when you’re up potting a new tree whether it’s in the ground or in another container .Take that as a fresh start for your roots at the same time you can trim some of the route to encourage the growth which is called root pruning. I like to use water to help this whole process. You can literally gently blast the dirt and lubricate the roots that they untangle much easier.it seems like a lot of hard work, but your tree is worth it when you get to it it will return years of beneficial, fruit, shade, flowers, and enjoyment.I hope this was helpful and please let us know in the comments below . #rootbound #rootpruning #tree #fruit #figs #freshfigs #figtrees #thefighunter #amazing #education #gardeningtips #gardenlife #fruit #home
