Hi,
Today we've filmed by Back to Basics course so I have Cheryl as my model. Cheryl has a problem with picking at her nails and the ring finger is really bad, she's asked me to sculpt a nail out for her and because she's a nail technician and knows how to look after it, I've agreed. I would not do this on a new client or someone you don't trust to get regular infills and be careful with the nail. I'm doing a ballerina nail for this one.
I hope you enjoy this video, don't forget to like and subscribe.

This woman is so damn fascinating and photogenic. I don’t even paint my nails with regular polish but I’m here glued to the screen while she talks about short bitten nails. Which I don’t have either haha.. but she’s so captivating. And I say this after binging MANY Naio & Kirsty videos. 😻 I really appreciate a woman being bold and doing her thing. Incredible talent 💚✌🏼

When I used to get my acrylic nails done as a nail biter it hurts way more if you loosely hold the nail during filing at the end, since the nail is weak and fragile it feels like it’s pulling it off with the file 🥴

Hi sweety. I love your video's so much and I am learning so much. I am 61 years old and trying to learn again. And you are my best teacher. Better than the lessons I get from internet school over here in the Netherlands. And above that you make me smile. And in these times every smile counts. Lots of love Yvonne

I had this problem with a toenail after banging it. I HAD to have something to protect the nail bed where I lost the nail and I had about ¼ of my nail left so I tried it. I had to infill and file every week for 6 months before I had the courage to remove the acrylic for a look. That nail had grown in so beautifully that I now have to slip a light layer of acrylic over the other toenails so they all look good together because that one looks like acrylic when it's bare!

I’m glad Cheryl said that when an actual client walks in with a nail like that, you wouldn’t make that extension this long 🤣 I was watching and all the way through i was wondering; isnt that extension way too long for a short nail like that? 👀🤣. Love ya Kirsty!!

Poor Cheryl I feel so sorry for her. Not that Kirsty is hurting her, just that she bites her nails so badly. I used to bite my nails like that when I was in high school I remember making them bleed but still wouldn't stop biting them.

Cheryl is a great model and it was very nice of her to show that even a nail tech can be a nail biter. It made me cringe a bit when Kirsty was going around the cuticle because I know when I was biting my nails and skin around the nail my cuticles were always sore.

I have an autoimmune disease and it makes my nails suuuuuper thin and they peel and break allllll the time super far back and I’ve recently started experimenting with different types of nail product to do exactly what she was saying about the nail recovery. And started using cuticle oil because of your videos and it’s insane how much it helps. I’ve gone my whole 27 years haaaaaating my cruddy nails and your videos help me so much. Who would have known taking care of your nails is actually important!!?!

Now she is off work & on lockdown she will be my guinea pig. Once I've tortured her with my practising I'll do it on myself 😆

I have a condition where my nails grow like paper, it's a variety of ehlers danlos syndrome. I use acrylic to protect my natural nails and it is so good. They're healthier than they have ever been, and if I do damage one, I just need to use short acrylics to act as armour til it heals up.

Wait someone else has this problem? My finger nails are think like paper on most fingers and so soft and they get flaky? Like the layers don't stick together. O have given myself papercuts with my nails a lot. They are so soft I can't evwn keep nailpolish or gel or acrylic on because it just comes off because my nails are so soft. I somehow believed it was my diet or something and I'm always nervous getting my nails done since it only last like a week or 2 on me

I had a pinky nail that acquired a fungus-- on my non-dominant DISPLAY HAND, no less. I was afraid to do anything to it but polish it to hide the fungus until KZbin nail tech Sarah Burchett showed her mother-in-law's nail that had the same white fungus I had. She was putting clear hybrid gel on the nail and watching it for any changes. It didn't change a thing with her MIL's nail fungus over months, so I put clear hybrid gel on my nail with the fungus and watched it closely. A month later I filed all my nails down to do a fill, but I didn't quite get to the one with the fungus before bed time. Overnight I broke that pinky nail off, halfway down my nail bed, and didn't even feel it! The next day I noticed what had happened. The whole part of the nail that had the fungus had broken off. Now it's been a couple of months and my nail is now growing past it's natural free edge, and get this: THE FUNGUS IS GONE!!! It broke off with the nail! It seems that the near-constant alcohol cleaning of the nail bed that I did while the nail was growing out seems to have cured the fungus! I still can't believe it!

Why did you put the form so far away from her nail? I thought you should put it right up against the nail, but you’ve got a good amount of skin between the form and the nail. Is this because the extension would be too far up with the side walls and such if you put it back up against the nail? Thanks for doing these back to basics videos, I’ve been enjoying them and absorbing all the tips and tricks 😊💖

I have very short nails due to them being genetically brittle and always break. During quarantine I wanted to start doing diy nails (yes not the best I know) and bought a diy polygel nail kit. I don't want to spend even more money on nail forms and as you apply the gel into the plastic nail, will I need nail forms at all? And would it matter if the gel nail adhered to my skin/nail bed like in this video? Thanks!

I've been doing this as well. If a client walks in with short bitten nails I fix it with acrylic. And it last longer and they tend to not bite anymore. I have saved so many clients nails by applying acrylic even though people bash me. I've learned doing this on my own nails, because for some or other reason I love chewing the acrylic off my own nails. And I can't stop 😢

I love watching Kirsty do the nail thing. LOVE the videos. But please, please, I'm begging you guys, after all of this time and these videos, can you please give her a mic on her shirt or something, so that when she is super quiet we don't have to turn the sound super high only to turn it way down 2 seconds later when it's LOUD. THANK YOU!!!

This video is actually surprising me so much. I have worse bitten nails then her, and I go to the salon to them all the time, and different places too, and never been turned away or had to sign anything. About the only issues they had was my cuticles Being too hard and that I don't relax my hands😂. I've never had that experience, and actually even with my nails growing so fast I've had sets last for over 2 months before, but I also have very dry nails so it had great adhesion, and mine don't grow any faster than others nails. Also I just ordered nail supplies to do my own while on quaratine, and I'm glad to see that I can use a form with bitten nails and not have to use glue and tips while risking mold and bacterial growing under my nails which happens a lot with me because of glues air bubbles trapping liquid.

I have severely bitten nails. I have been turned away more than accepted and I've only had 2 stylists not completely butcher my fingers trying to do my nails. Needless to say, I don't have em done now...
