Rather than cutting the rubber plunger, a more positive approach is to cut a 1mm thick spacer/shim and place it below the p.c. board. The result is the infra red sensors are 1mm further away from the rubber plunger...effect the same as cutting but reversible if needed, or if still insufficient clearance simply use another spacer..but everything is precise and reversible!

My kids couldn't be trimmed they are hard plastic. So I used some small heat shrink and made 2 rubber spacers for the two screws that hold the board on it worked for me.

Hi and thank you for this. We fixed one side of our board. Now it does absolutly nothing. No more shaking, yet no spinning wheel now. Any advice? Thank you! I bet we cut the rubber too much? I thought we cut just a small amount.

It worked! but like he says DONT cut off too much or it will ruin the board (until u get new plungers).. Just a sliver did it for me

Definitely a dumb way to correct the issue. The proper way is to use shims to elevate the PCB.
