Same mistake made again: the part is made of plastic. It will break sooner or later 😂

I ended up smashing it with a sledge hammer then fitted the trap. Now i need to change the shower tray.

If the bottom rubber seal is good quality, I don't think it is necessary. Gravity... The trap lip is slightly bigger. But a bit of silicone will help. Make sure don't overtite
