I appreciate that. I have never used drain cleaners and never will. The only guarantee they have is to take a lot of money for people desparate for help. I hope this video helps some save some money and headaches.
@HighTechLab2 жыл бұрын
Usually the clogs are from dirt and sand that settle in the bottom in the p-trap. The plunger creates a much faster flow rate through the pipe and then the slow dribble from the shower so it's able to stir up this dirt and sand and push it the rest of the way down the drain. My RV shower clogged after a trip to the sand dunes and all I did was put the hose that I was using to flush out the toilet tank into the shower and used my hand so that it created a huge flow straight down the drain
@naterksmr7 ай бұрын
THANK YOU! I tried that crappy drain cleaner from the store last week and it did NOTHING. I tried this today and at first it didn't seem to do anything. I took a shower a little while later and the tub filled right back up as usual. I stepped out of ankle-deep water and started drying myself off. Then, I heard the most beautiful sound I've heard in months - a properly-draining bathtub. Definitely pay attention to how he points out that it is HOT WATER, NOT COLD. Cold water will crystalize the baking soda quickly, making the blockage even worse. Make sure it's hot hot hot.

I tried the plastic snake but it didn't work. A product called Green Gobbler worked for me. I poured the whole bottle down the drain, let it sit overnight and poured some hot water down the drain the next morning. It didn't unclog immediately but I plunged the drain for a few seconds and the clog broke free. This was after two days of trying other drain cleaners, plunging and snaking with the 18 inch barbed plastic tool. If you have a tub shower, get two plungers and a helper. Put one plunger over the tub faceplate/drain lever to create a seal and then plunge the drain. That's what did the job for me.

Good info...after all the cleaning I like to finish up w/ a 5 gallon bucket of water, with the screen left off and pour the stream directly down the drain. I think it helps and it makes me feel a whole lot better....also, these water saver toilets need to be flushed frequently which kind of negates the purpose of the "water saver" feature but if your home is on a shallow gradient, and some distance to the sewer line then you need to be moving all that gunk frequently to prevent clogs which back up to the shower etc.

I have a wet and dry vacuum in my use it for to sucking out drain pipes in my kitchen sink and bathroom sink and shower and I just put my vacuum to sucking water mode and placed the pipe on the sink plug holes and suction and the best way to remove the sink build up of hair and debris. I regularly remove the u bend in sink and soak in caustic soda for build up of scale and grease and replacing the clean pipes. They having created a product that dissolves hair and materials to use down the plug holes and leave for a while to dissolve the build up of hair to rinse away with boiling water pipes left clean and this is easier in areas you can’t access the pipes. I have a carpet cleaning machine for shampoo and pump action in being able to use to pick up spilled water in using the machine for my bathroom sink sink in kitchen and shower and bathtub. I use it a couple of times a year for regular time spent in my bathroom cleaning routines for removing the hair regularly and buying a silicone suction cup to trapping the hair in place it every time using the bathroom sink and shower and bathtub for being easier to collect and hair from suction cup to having blocked drain.

Buy a curtain spring from hardware and just pull it so it expands giving space. Then at the start point frare the spring so the edge will open like ? and tile other end to a wooden stick. Now push this through the drain gratings and rotate the spring like you play kite. Then pull it outside. You get all hair and other blockers out. Conservative method is you can open spiral book or old table calenders roller binding or spiral notebook. These spring binders are also usable for this. No need to go for a buy from outside. Keep hot water ready to wash it through the drain.
