My snowblower wouldn't start, so I looked on KZbin for a video before packing it up and taking it for repair. 12 minutes watching video. 2 mins to look at snowblower and find float bowl. 1 minute to find wrench (mine was 1/2"). 1 minute to remove float bowl. 10 minutes to clean. 1 minute to install. In less than 30 mins total I had a working snowblower, and I couldn't be happier! REALLY appreciate you taking the time to post this video. Thank-you.

Doublewide6, thanks! My snowblower wouldn't start, there is a storm coming, and the repair shop is backed up for weeks. Your instructions on cleaning the carburetor bowl did the trick. This is the first mechanical thing I have ever fixed. Actually, the first time I have tried to fix anything and didn't set it on fire, lose most of the parts, or injure myself. Thanks again.

Excellent video. Saved me a lot of frustration right before a big snow storm hit. A gentleman gave me a Toro CCR-2500 because it was too hard to start. Turns out the small hole above the threads on the main jet/bolt was clogged. Took a sewing needle and punched through it. Put it back together and it started right up. Can't wait to tell him. Thanks!

This is a great video. My snowblower wouldn't start this morning and I was pissed! I watched this video, cleaned out the small hole at the top of the threads on that nut, and my snowblower fired right up! I can't believe I fixed it. Thank you so much for this great video.

Just want to thank for sharing this very helpful information. I couldn't get my snowblower started. I tried starting fluid 20 times hoping it would eventually get it going, then watched this video. After running to the auto part store for some carburator cleaner and cleaning the carburator and needle/jet, about an hour, it started up like brand new, one pull. How simple. Thanks!

Thank you very much for this video. I was prepping my snowblower yesterday for our first major snowstorm of the season today. I had it emptied last spring and ready for action, but I couldn't get started. I would try to get it started until it would flood then back away for awhile to let the fuel get out of the carburetor. After three attempts, no luck. I saw your video on putting raw fuel into the sparkplug hole. After that it was a first pull start. Thanks again. I would have kept trying, or bring it into the shop.

I knew my carb was jacked as soon as my snowblower died shortly after start but I just didnt want to accept it simply because all newer machines like these are covered in plastic.... I watched this and bit the bullet. 5 minutes later after cleaning my bowl and jet it runs like a champ. Thanks for the great video

Bought a used snowblower from a garage sale for $75... 4-8" forecast for tomorrow and had neglected getting it working :( (we do have a newborn in the house... that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it). Tried and tried and had given it up for a lost $75 but watched the video and the trick of pouring gas directly into the sparkplug hole did the trick! It never would've occurred to me to do that... so thanks! First winter in my 42 years on the planet where I'll have a snowblower (what can I say.. I'm cheap and stubborn).

Great info DW6. Cleaning the jet holes especially the small one with a wire was very helpful. The gasket around the bowl is very important because mine was old and cracked. Cleaning the jet and replacing gasket made a big difference on the idle and full throttle. The engine no longer kept running up and down and stayed constant speed with no load.

Good video. My 13 hp Tecumseh started to backfire the other night. So i cleaned the carb, as shown here. After re-intalling, it started running good but it did not last more than a minute. After that, it stalled. I tried to re-start but it would not, and back fired again. There is always fuel ( i can see droplets coming out of the carburetor ) and the sprakplug has a good sprak. I am starting to think tha i need to clean the carb again. Some of the holes in the carb are really small ( i saw three the size of a fine needle ) and am not sure I did a sufficient cleaning job my first time. I am also thinking of draining the tank of the old fuel and repalce it with fresh new high octane fuel. Does this makes sense? Thanks a lot for your suggestions ...

I have a Toro 1028 Power Shift and it runs like crap. I have drained the tank and put new non ethonal fuel in w/a once of seafoam. I have also taken the spark plug out and it has white on tip after running. I can crank this with choke all the way (chock has 4 positions), then drop the choke down 1 notch yet it still idles up and down and kinda backfires and spits flame out exhaust. If I turn choke all the way off it will kill the engine. I'm going to try and drop the bowl and clean it tonight, but was wondering if there is something else I'm missing? Thanks in advance

if there is moisture in the gas and it's cold, will it freeze and keep it from starting. applying heat, like a hair dryer help. it worked the day before but was left outside for the next day. it's an electric start. I think the answer is yes.

I have a +20 year old snow blower. Very hard to start when cold. I need to keep pulling it for 15-20 minutes until it finally goes off.. When i go trough thick snow, it tends to shut off if i go too fast. So i'll have to go very slowly on 1rst gear and it'll run normally but if i go on 2nd gear or higher, it'll start to shut off.. It's kind of like it starts to clog up with snow and the engine can't take it.. Could it be worn cylinder or can i still fix this?

Dumb question. When first trying to start it, does the choke go in the closed position (/) or the open position ( l )? Mine wont start. I cleaned the bowl and jet which seems to have helped but after watching several videos I think my choke is in the wrong position (open) while first trying to start it.
@doublewide6
@doublewide6 10 жыл бұрын
The choke should be closed when starting. If the engine is flooded ( sparkplug is soaking wet) open the choke. Change fuel with new. If sparkplug is dry add one teaspoon of gas into the sparkplug hole reinsert sparkplug and give it a pull with choke on. Let us know how you make out.

Hi, I have bought troy bilt dual stage snow blower recently. Before I start using it I thought there is not enough oil in it. So, I fill in more oil. After doing so, I start the engine. The engine started for 10-15 second and stopped abruptly. I thought I might have put more oil than required. Do you think adding more oil could cause any problem in starting? I would appreciate your answer and any help in troubleshooting the problem. Thanks
@doublewide6
@doublewide6 9 жыл бұрын
Hemalkumar Golwala Drain some oil out. If you put too much in it will come out the air breather. It will not cause harm if it comes out the air breather. Drain some oil out, running with it too full is hard on the engine.

@doublewide6

It is such a small amount of fuel for such a short period of time and the engine is not hot yet so the piston has not expanded, so it should be just fine IMO. By all means don't do it if your worried about it.
