Video correction: The gasket which connects the exhaust manifold to the catalytic Convertor has an smaller inner diameter. I file using the utility knife to make it properly fit. Any other questions or advice please respond with a comment. Have a great day 😎👍

Thanks for this video, we just had our 2003 Element fixed at the dealer, under Comp Claim on its Insurance coverage days ago. The "removal" method was exactly the same as you show in your video. The OEM Honda, Catalytic converters are on a national backorder, they are expecting months wait to replace and receive all the backordered parts. Our insurance company would not cover that long for rental replacement which we absolutely had to have. So, we were forced to go with an aftermarket Catalytic Converter, given the age and milage on our Element this was the right choice to make as an OEM Converter would have added little if any value to the car in the long run. The total Bill from the dealer to the insurance company was a little over $3,100 and would have been closer to $4,500 with an OEM Converter. This happened in a grocery store parking lot, in the store no longer than ten minutes and the Cat was gone. They used a Sawzall so I can't imagine that no one heard the loud noises cutting it off and didn't think something was wrong enough to say something to the store management. (Par for the course, I guess.) Bottom line, if you are not able or willing to get your hands dirty and fix it yourself, then a Comprehensive writer on your insurance policy probably would be of value to you, especially with rental car replacement when you are out of a car for the duration of the fix. Thanks for covering the replacement procedure for a missing cat, I'm just glad my wife didn't interrupt the low-life vermin in the process of ripping the cat out! Bottom line, if you do interrupt someone "working on your car" without your permission, don't approach them, call the police from a safe distance, try to get a license plate and vehicle description, number of perps and description, make sure that you inform the emergency operator that a crime is in progress and you are requesting immediate police response if at all possible. Then remain at a safe distance, until either the perps leave, noting the direction they are traveling or until the police officers arrive and have apprehended the thief / thieves. Parts off your car are not worth getting hurt or even killed over they can be replaced, you cant!

Mine was stolen in a grocery store parking lot too. I wish I had coverage (will call to verify, but I'm fairly certain I haven't any). But will definitely get it once I finally replace mine.

Aren’t there welded nuts on the exhaust manifold? Did you not use the nuts the kit came with the exhaust spring bolts?

Thanks for the video but I must admit that I am very confused, especially with respect to the exhaust manifold to catalytic converter inlet joint. By placing the two washers under each spring and running the bolts until they bottom, you have defeated the intent of a spring connection. Check time stamp 7:24. The springs are fully compressed. This tells me that the gasket/donut for this area is terribly wrong. Would like your feedback.

Thank you, since I was using an aftermarket catalytic & gasket. They were different from the OEM and the only way to make them fix was to use washer to add extra tension to the springs. If I didn’t use those it was going to be loose and have exhaust leak.

Also, what is that red sealant you are using? DO you just apply to outside of flange, or also inside where the gasket sits?

Are there two different types of catalytic converters? I had to replace mine because it was stolen. That was about 2 years ago. My check engine light has been on for a while and was told by my mechanic that it's my second one when he scanned it.
