Now it's swaying & I'm not sure why or how to fix it? I don't have time to investigate & read all about ceiling fans & why they would start swaying & let alone how to fix one.....I just want the ceiling fan to work properly & not to sway anymore. With all the money I spent on this ceiling fan I don't know how this swaying thing happened....what am I going to do now?" I've got a great idea for you! I'm glad to hear you like my videos! Thanks for letting me know. This ceiling fan is a 7 year old unit. It's called a fanimation. They're pretty expensive (around $700). I'm sure you could find a similar one for cheaper. Look at a big hardware store & you'd be amazed at what you can find for less than $200. That ceiling fan is Fanimation Islander. It's not a good idea to let the fan sit with blades. It can band the blade brackets, and on fans with rubber flywheel like this, it can permanently damage the flywheel. So it's best to remove the blades before taking it down.

You're right...unbalanced blades will also cause a ceiling fan to wobble....but this video was just all about tightening up the knuckle. I have other videos that explain more on how to fix a ceiling fan wobble, etc.. Look for them. Thanks for commenting. Joe :0

So, question. I have to have my ceiling fan spinning in one direction because if I have it spinning in the other direction the whole fan lifts up and starts to spin instead of just the blades. What do I need to do to fix that?

I've never heard of that! But my guess is the knuckle at the top of the fan where it connects is not seated properly. There should be a little notch in the top knuckle of the ceiling fan where that fits down into an outer notch area on the mounting housing piece attached to the ceiling. If that notch is not seated properly your ceiling fan rod will spin. See what I mean? Or the knuckle that is attached to the rod is not tight to the rod. A few different things it could be. What you should do is watch some of my other ceiling fan videos where I show how the knuckle fits on there. Go to my main KZbin channel page then click on playlists & scroll down to ceiling fans. In the video here you just watched I had to remove the top trim piece in order to tighten up the knuckle onto the down rod in order to fix the ceiling fan from swaying. If that top knuckle isn't notched in properly your ceiling fan could also spin like you say so you need to make sure the knuckle is attached & tight to the down rod then you need to make sure the knuckle is seated properly to the ceiling bracket. Turn the down rod & knuckle to see if it's seated. I have other videos that show this. Let me know how you do! Also make sure the ceiling fan is turning in the right direction for the summer. If you stand directly under the fan then the air should be blowing straight down on you. If it's not then you know the ceiling fan is turning in the wrong direction as the other direction is for winter. I show the difference on a different video as well.

The fan came with the condo & it was called a Fanimation ceiling fan. Really nice but expensive. Some lighting companies still sell them but they might have to order it for you if they don't have them in stock. I have more ceiling fan videos of same fan. I just went to your main channel page & saw the "subscribe" button. It might make a difference what type of device you're using. The thing about just leaving a ceiling fan swaying is it will only get worse over time then more things could happen with none of them good. It's pretty easy to fix though...
