And a shorter hose. What if the tear in the hose was in the middle?? Then your idea is totally useless.

Yes, unfortunately in this case you have to buy a new hose or try to fix it with duct tape although that would look very nice. But in most cases, these vacuum hoses tear themself on places where you bend them the most, vacuum entrance and suction tip. I hope you have the best option on your vacuum cleaner - - - no tear at all 👍👍
