Recently I've been having a problem with my passenger window Switch not working. I found a video online showing this trick so I wanted to test it myself. This repair works on 2007 - 2013 Silverado/Sierra and might work on similar switches if they have the same style connectors. Hopefully this quick fix can save some time and money!

Great video. Another good practice is to wipe it down really well with isopropyl alcohol because it evaporates so you don't have to worry about moisture getting stuck in your circuits... but it cleans all corrosion really well. I'm a military-trained miniature electronic repair specialist and we did months of soldering and order to remove corrosive flux and other materials we always use isopropyl alcohol to clean it really well when we were done.. using an acid brush... trim the bristles for a firmer brush.

Thats what i used on my GMC, alcohol. Cheaper and easier to fix the switch than replace it.

I have had this problem for about 7 months, it was driving me crazy. Sometimes I could get the passenger side window down but it wouldn’t always go back up. I would continually press the driver side controls to get it to come up once I got it down. Sometimes it wouldn’t come up at all. I was fed up and just about to call someone to fix it. I stumbled upon your video, looked pretty easy. 15 minutes later, window is working! Easy to follow and best of all I could actually SEE EVERYTHING you were doing. Amazing KZbin.

As I am EXTREMELY fond of telling my friends - You Tube is our friend.....and this particular repair fixed an issue with my 2013 Silverado. My passenger side window was misbehaving and finally quit last night (staying open 4 inches) during a rainstorm. Of course it quit then. This morning I "You Tubed", found this repair and it worked like it should have been in the General Motors repair guide. Also when I called the local Chevy dealership, I was quoted $243 for the replacement switch. Excellent video and job!!

Awesome tip. I agree on the pencil eraser. The best eraser though is the more gritty ink eraser which is difficult to find, but a pencil eraser will work as well. Just follow the tip in the video and your driver door switch for the front passenger window will work perfectly. Thanks for this video! Saved me a trip to the dealer.

I did this a few years ago to the rear drivers side door and it worked. The front passenger switch AND the driver's front passenger switch were acting up. I found this video again and cleaned everything and all is well. I used a pencil eraser to clean and then this aerosol spray called corrosion x on a q-tip and dabbed all contacts just to see if it'll help keep the switches lasting longer. Thanks for uploading this video!

My 2011 Chevy Silverado 1500's window switches were all acting up. Some would work when pressing down but then windows wouldn't go up. Looked all over the internet and read 1000's of different people's theories on how to fix from fuses, to broken wires, etc. Finally watched this video and decided to give it a shot. I had to perform this on every single doors window switches but they are all operating perfectly now. Quick and easy fix. Wish this was the first video I came across! Thank you!

I just wanted to give you a shout out. I had the same problem as you and follow your instructions and I'm back in business. The only thing I did differently was use a q-tip from a gun cleaning kit and a little gun solvent to clean the contacts on both the board and the silicone strip. I followed up with using a flat-head screwdriver to lightly scrape some corrosion off. Afterward, I wiped them down and lightly applied some WD40 with another q-tip. I put everything back together and now both of the passenger sides work like new. Thanks for posting your video. :-)

Thank you. Years later this is still helping. I have a 2009 LMM Diesel with the folding mirrors. The switch replacement is all-in-1 and cost over $150 plus the cost to program. All windows worked except the driver-side would not go down (not sure about up). I tried this method, pulled it all apart and didn't see anything corroded. I figured I would use the eraser trick mentioned elsewhere for cleaning it off. Erased a few gold metal dots and put the case back together. Connected to the truck before reinstalling everything and tested. HOLY CRAP IT WORKED. Thanks for the video and thanks to the eraser comments.

Broke my driver side door handle on my new to me ‘11 Silverado and only the driver side window would roll up from the driver side, all would roll down. The passenger side switch would roll the passenger window down but not up, the rear switches work fine. My driver side front window just started being balky a few days ago. I had no idea this is the way these switches were made. They are almost identical to the key fob that I took apart a couple of years ago, did the little clean up process, and it works like new. I probably would have broken something trying to get to the switches, so that tip about getting the pull handle taken off is worth about a couple of hours of time, and most likely a few thousand cuss words. Not to mention replacing the trim piece!!! Good presentation.

This fix is 100% the real deal. But i used a pencil eraser to clean the contacts so as not to damage the switches. The amount of tarnish that interferes with a good connection is minimal and the eraser is adequate for success. I did all my switches in about 30 minutes. Great video!!

Genius. Thank you so much. I came on KZbin to find out what part I have to order. Well, to my surprise, no part to order. I feel indebted to you. Thank you for such super-fantastic, simple, informative video. Many many thanks.

Wow. Thanks 👍🏻 I’ve replaced that switch several times and I wish i would have seen this video before! They get like that because water from rain that runs down if your window is open at all. GM and Chevy didn’t do a good job sealing those from moisture. Your awesome for sharing that. I put some Dielectric grease on mine also and it’s seems to be helping the switch last longer from corrosion 👍🏻

This actually works, realistically takes about 5-10 minutes, and I used a knife to clean the contact instead of a flathead. The screwdriver wasn’t quite small enough in my case. Thanks for posting!

Just wanted to say it worked. Thanks just fixed mine today on my 2011 dmax..super satisfied. Was the switch for sure cuz it only worked on the passenger side and not the driver side. Was 99 percent sure it would work and indeed it did. Used the eraser method like other people mentioned on the comments. Thumbs up my dude

Thank you for the tutorial. Fixed mine in 10 minutes. Used the pencil eraser trick rather than scraping with a screw driver. Now all windows work perfectly.
