My driver-side window stop working about a year ago and today me and my husband thought we would fix it, we thought it was the window regulator so we put a new one in and it still didn't work. So we will be returning it. I came to KZbin Academy and found your video, did just what you said to do, followed your instruction to the t, hooked it back up, and magic it worked. Thank you for this video! I don't have to open the door at Drive-thru to pay anymore. I can roll my window down! I am a big DIY=er and if I can't fix it then I'll pay somebody.

Thank you so much for this video. My driver window would not go up randomly today, and I was panicking to get it fixed before the sun went down and it rained tonight. I looked up replacement switches and they go for $200-300! Wild! I found so many videos like yours, but for the wrong cars/parts. It took me hours, but I finally found one for the switch I actually have in my vehicle. I just put it back in, and can confirm my driver side window is working again! You have saved me hundreds of dollars and days of stress and sadness. I cannot thank you enough. Liked and subscribed!

Thank you for this video. Saved me about $160. I didn't do it exactly as done in video. I used the toothpaste method but didn't use the recommended deoxidizer as I didn't want to take a trip to the parts store. Instead I used mass air flow sensor cleaner and wet a q tip to clean toothpaste and terminal's. And sprayed all circuit boards with maf sensor cleaner. My window works now. Well worth the time it took about 30 min.

Great video and very thorough. I wonder if this will work on my Olds 2001 Aurora ? I would think so, as it's a General Motors car, and the principles are pretty much the same, in that it involves cleaning the contacts. What do you think ? It's really quite a sophisticated car for the era it was made in. I wonder if I can do this myself, as I don't have a lot of small screw drivers etc. Bye the way, I did replace 2 window regulators with motors over the last 3 years. In those cases the motors all worked but the cables got tangled and ruined. In these cases the windows fell down to half open, and in both cases I could hear the motors trying to move the window. In my case right now, I press the Master Driver's side switch, and "nothing" at all, so I believe it's the switch. Thanks from Canada.
@ScubaMoto2 жыл бұрын
Grant P: I'm glad you liked the video. I have not removed or serviced the Olds Aurora Master switches. Even though they look pretty different on the out side with the toggle action, they may have similar internals as you say. It appears you don't even need a screw driver to get into it, just snaps. But once inside, you will likely need drivers to remove the circuit boards and expose the contacts for cleaning. Good luck with the project and thanks for the comment.

Hello, I know this videos is a couple of years old, but I cleaned the switch assembly and still a no go. I took the switch apart again and tried just using the rubber pad with the contacts to see if the windows would work and sure enough they did. do you have any advice? the mechanical switches move fine and I see the plungers going down when I toggle them.
@ScubaMoto2 жыл бұрын
M Phillips: Good job on cleaning and also on checking to see that it works if you press directly on the plunger. I did get the rubber pad laid down wrong once and it caused the same problem you describe. I just re-installed everything paying extra care to alignment and it worked. It's also easier than you think to get one or two of the plungers inserted wrong. It's worth a look anyway. Then just make sure everything lays down around the screw posts and lays flat before putting the screws. After the circuit board is laid down but before the screws are in is when it's good to check the button function to be sure the plungers are getting the full action on the rubber pad. Sometimes something gets in there and spaces the board too far from the buttons for the plungers to engage. Good luck with it.

Need some help on this one. Drivers side window ONLY won't go down. Stopped randomly about 6 months ago. Replaced the regulator and motor, nothing. Pulled the switch apart and cleaned following this video, still nothing. Is it a bad switch? Wiring issue? Help!! '12 suburban lt with 215k miles....
@ScubaMoto28 күн бұрын
I would start by checking to see if you're getting power supply to the driver's switch. If so, you can bypass the switch with a jumper just to test that everything you replaced actually works. Then you've isolated the failure to be within the switch. If you don't find a power supply, the it's wiring. It usually affects all windows but it's worth checking the following. These vehicles are sometimes known to have wire damage within the harness loom that passes from the vehicle to the door. Over time and door use, some of the wires in there can eventually break inside their insulation from repeated bending. Agitating the wires while everything is powered up might reveal broken wires by giving intermittent function while agitating the wire loom. Once you open the rubber boot the wires are housed in, and you can put an eye on them; you should be able to identify and repair the damaged wire(s). Let us know what you find.

I have a question...lol my plastic doorhandles inside the truck crack how do I fix that???
@ScubaMoto4 жыл бұрын
Steve Morgan: That's a very common problem with these crappy door handles. The dealer fix often requires replacing too much of the door panel since the handles are integral to the panels. Depending on how far gone the handle is, you can use glue and heavy wire or rod to re-form the part of the handle that has broken. The rod needs to be long enough to bridge between the remaining healthy parts of the handle while hopefully not being too visible. What worked for me was embedding pieces of clothing hanger rod surrounded by hot glue. I made a temporary form to contain the hot glue while it dried around the hanger rod and also tied to the remaining broken handle. It was plenty strong when it dried. Think reinforced concrete. I was actually able to do it in a way that is not visible when looking down at the handle. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

I have a 07 Yukon my driver side window does not have power I have power to the regulator motor I powered it by adding Direct current with a 12-volt battery from a drill and it works well it goes up and down it has power but I am not having power with the switch driver side connected any ideas where to find the fuse for this
@ScubaMoto3 жыл бұрын
Miguel Hernandez: The driver window power runs from a circuit breaker on the cabin fuse box. Since you tested the motor is okay, you may have a wire in the door jam that is broken within its insulation. The break can occur from repeated bending from opening/closing the door. You can try getting lucky testing for this by wiggling the wire while hitting the window switch gives any results. You can also check for power coming from the circuit breaker labeled "LT DR" in the fuse box. That box is located under a panel on the left side of the dash. You can see the panel when the door is open. The panel is just held on by friction tabs and can by pried with a trim removal tool or any slim flat bar. I hope that helps.

Your video was great! I did exactly what you said but the passenger window still won't function. Any suggestions?
@ScubaMoto2 жыл бұрын
Jay Bee: I'm glad you liked the video and I'll try to help you. I've had to go back inside a second time on these switches but before you do, let me ask a couple questions. 1-Were there other windows not working before you cleaned the switch that are working now? 2-Does the passenger window work with its own switch? If yes to both, then you will likely have success going in a second time and focusing on the particular contact that controls the window that is still not working. Sometimes the film that is blocking the switch contact is stubborn and does not come off the first try. The final rinse after scrubbing should be rubbing alcohol or DeOxit. When you go back in, you may also see something else that explains why the window isn't responding. I hope that helps you.

We'll assume all windows work with their own door switches so we know they're working. If so, since you checked fuses then it's likely wiring. These vehicles are sometimes known to have wire damage within the harness loom that passes from the vehicle to the door . Over time and door use, some of the wires in there can eventually break inside their insulation from repeated bending. So all the switches on the master stopped working will this help or should I check something else ?
@ScubaMoto2 жыл бұрын
Team KYC: If it all went out at the same time (and you didn't just dump a milkshake on it) then I would guess you have wire damage within the loom that passes from the door to the vehicle. Over time and door use, the wires in there can eventually break. Once you open the rubber boot they're housed in, and you can put an eye on them; you should be able to see the damaged wire(s). Let us know what you find.

Keep in mind that some of these trucks are known to have issues with internal wire fail within the harness between the truck and the door where the harness repeatedly bends. Although I have not seen it, I know it happens and many have reported it. If your switch cleanup doesn't improve things then the next step is to confirm wire integrity. Good luck with it.
