How to fix amazon fire tv and stick black screen boot easy!

Amazon fire tv or fire stick boots to black screen after amazon splash screen and wont go to home amazon home screen, Changing the hdmi cable wont work, the problem is the resolution is not set right. After boot hold the up button and rewind button at the same time and on the new menu that pops up select auto resolution.

For everyone who tried this solution to no avail, I clicked the home button twice really fast and a menu option popped up. I re entered my WiFi information because it said it wasn’t connected and after that my screen came back on. Good luck everyone. Amazon just sucks!!!

Thank you so much. I just had this problem for the first time ever. Didnt know what happened. Just checked the device info and turns out it downloaded the new fire os 5.2.6.6 on my fire tv 4k gen 2 and it fu** up the resolution which my tv couldnt handle so again thank you very much !!!

Edit for clarity: All I had to do was hold my home button on remote while screen was black, and a little menu popped up on the bottom right, I set the hdmi port from there, viola.

Factory Reset Firestick Without Going Into Settings. You can initiating a Factory Reset on your Firestick remote control by pressing the Right and Back buttons together holding them for 10 seconds or more. This will give you the option to factory reset. Hope this helps.

Hi, can anyone please help me? My screen keeps going off every 30 secs, and nothing works when the screen is black. The TV is on, but it acts like the fire stick is not connected, and then after 3-4mins the screen comes back on for 30secs and it keeps repeating. The firestick is not restarting, just the screen goes black

Sounds like a poor connection to the hdmi plug, have you tried inserting it to a different plug? Most tvs have 3-4 hdmi plugs. Are you using an hdmi extension cable? Some fire sticks have a 3 inch cable that goes bad with a bend so that could be the issue. You could also try to do a complete reset on the firestick, might be a software issue, but then everything would be deleted and you would start like new. Other things you could try is test it on a different TV if possible and see if it still acts up. Have to eliminate every possibility until the source of the problem is found. Good luck.

I had to reset my firestick 4k then re-installed my apps, that is the only thing that worked for the black screen problem, i tried everything else, it was much quicker to reset than to research all the fixes that never worked

This was done on a fire TV 2, could be different on newer firesticks but the software is all the same. Just hold up and rewind and wait for it to load up the menu to change the screen resolution.

I have a problem that sometimes videos cant be seen (Netflix, Prime, Vudu, KZbin,etc.) Just a black screen (only when watching a video o movie) and the audio can be heard fine. The only way to fix it is to restart the stick, could this help?

Sounds like a different problem. I would do a full system reset and see if that helps also check for latest firmware update. You will have to reinstall all all your apps. Hope this helps.
