After 3 years of constant use I shut down my laptop one night, I came back from a truck route 2 days later and found no response from power. Unit was left plugged in. I removed the battery and did the power purge as you said, i had to hold the chassis power 15 seconds and then got a board response. After no video I cycled again, booted. Did not work for me, but the fact that you respond to so many and helped so many gets a like and sub from me. I can still hear the computer working and can even hear it boot up after I type my password, but the screen stays dark throughout. It initially turned off when I just tilted the screen back. It was very sensitive to having the screen moved. In fact if I get it to work again I'm not closing the screen or even touching the screen again. Not sure if that gives a clue as to what's wrong with it or not.
@TwinBytesInc11 ай бұрын
Thank you for your kind words, talking time to comment and your details definitely tell me what's wrong. The issue is your screen. The cable or screen inverter is damaged. Your video cable is most likely getting pinched as you tilt the screen. I bet if you put a little pressure on different parts along the bottom of the screen you will notice the screen light up and go dark. That confirms where the issue is but I can pretty much guarantee you need a new screen which they normally come with a new inverter board and cable. You could plug an external monitor in and you'll see everything working fine.

@TwinBytesInc2 жыл бұрын
Hello Revan. Not sure how it was diagnosed as a motherboard failure, who said it was a motherboard issue? Anyway you also said you believe it is overheating. Maybe a fan isn't spinning properly anymore, maybe not spinning at all. Maybe dust build up or clogged fans with pet hair. You'd have to open it up and inspect the fans to make sure they are free spinning. Also you can purchase a cooling pad for your laptop to help when under heavier loads like lengthy gaming.

Once I replaced the battery, with a new one, it actually started to work even without the battery. But for about one week or 10 days I did not operate the laptop, before fixing the new battery. Anything slim and firm to slide inside, but not too far and damage components. Also I avoid metal so not to make contact between components and fry something. I like plastic which a guitar pic works perfectly. Even if you are not a guitar player, computer stores sell tools that include guitar pic shaped wedges. Or you can go to a music store and they offer free pics to customers. I don't recommend walking into a music store to get a free guitar pic, that's kinda bad, but whatever you gotta do I guess. :)

Thanks for your well written question. If the charging light doesn't come on and you tried all this, it sounds like maybe the DC Jack needs replacing. You'd have to have a new DC Jack installed which is most likely soldered on the motherboard.

Yes, if the battery still had charge, it would still work until the battery runs out, even if DC connector bad. But sometimes there can be more than one issue. Someone needs to physically look at this. I can't say for sure, I can only give my best guess without looking.

MSI GE68 Apache here. My laptop won't turn on or show signs of life at all. I have used multimeter to test key components. I get around 3.6-4.5 volts off the motherboard plug that connects to the battery with the DC charger connected into the jack. Wondering why it wont turn on if it appears to be charging through motherboard properly.

Hello, so I have a MSI GF65 laptop and suddenly one day it crashed and turned off on me. Ever since that day the keyboard lights and fans turn on but the laptop doesn’t power on, my display screen is blank, and I don’t get a charging indicator. I took it to get serviced and they told me the cmoss battery was dead so I replaced it and I’m still having the same issue. I would appreciate any sort of help!
@TwinBytesInc8 ай бұрын
There is no way they can say that is the issue for sure without proving it. Since I don't see your computer I can't say for sure either, this video just gives recommendations on what fixes it many times. if this doesn't help, I could have almost guaranteed it's not the CMOS battery. I've never seen a CMOS battery cause this. it's something on the motherboard that maybe needs to be reflowed.

That sounds a little strange. normally cold is good, not too cold but heat is a killer and make the fans work harder. Can't be overheating which is what it sounded like, but if in a cold environment it's worse? I don't think I heard of this before. Someone needs to look at it. Maybe it's just a coincidence about the temperature.

Sirr, I want to ask that my laptop is msi gf63 thin 9rcx, the problem is that he can't turn on the laptop without the help of a charger, but if the charger is unplugged after that, the normal laptop doesn't turn off, it's just that if you turn on the laptop at the beginning you have to be assisted with a charger, what's wrong 🙏🏻
@TwinBytesInc2 жыл бұрын
That's very strange, I don't think I've seen that before. It sounds like there is something wrong with the battery that it can't have enough charge to boot the laptop, but it can hold a charge to keep it going after it is started. I am only guessing at this point, but sounds like the problem is the battery. If not the battery, it's a motherboard issue that needs repairing.

I think this is what they would try anyway to send back to you after repairs. However, if you have to break any seals to get at the battery, I would advise against it because it would void your warranty.

Not sure if it's anything at all but the issue is this, my power adapter was chewed on by puppy while I was cooking and said adapter was making my msi shut off completely at random I think so I checked the battery life and it was at 98 percent so I shut my laptop off to save the power, i tried turning it on the next day to get some files and all it did was the power light and keyboard light up then suddenly shuts off no fans running or even screen doing anything, and it does it constantly and I'm still waiting for the new power adapter, so any idea of what's going on
@TwinBytesInc3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your question. You can try running it without the power adapter for just long enough to prove if it works without the chewed up adapter. Then you know that's the cause and you need to get that new adapter asap. The bad adapter cause issues like this and worse. There could be an electrical fire, so you must be very careful. Tape it up with electrical tape in the mean time but if it keeps crashing your computer, you are best to not use the computer anymore until you get the new adapter, or you could damage your laptop as well.

Excellent question. Yes that would void the warranty. It's an educated risk you'll have to decide on. Maybe ask MSI about the warranty procedure and it maybe unacceptable to you. Many of my clients opt out of warranty repairs because they take too long and rather pay for the fix.

@TwinBytesInc2 жыл бұрын
Although I can't troubleshoot here, if it's heating up with nothing on the screen, there is an issue with the power flow and it could be a bad battery, bad charging port (The DC Jack) or possibly the power adapter. You'd have to probably have someone open it up and look at it.

Hi, Daniel. Just want to know your quick opinion. My laptop is MSI GP66 Leopard and the battery was drained and won't turn on even when plugged. I followed this guideline and the laptop still dead. Is the issue lies on the power adapter? Sorry for my question, thank you.

basically it's usually either the battery, power adapter, the outlet it's plugged into or the motherboard. Unless it is turning on but the screen is dead. Small chance of bad memory as well but that usually will make a beeping sound. A bad drive would still show you something on the screen.

Thanks for your question. It really sounds like some sort of problem with the motherboard. If they did a BIOS upgrade and it's still a problem, you should request a warranty replacement as it should still be under warranty being only 6 months old. Thanks for your question. Sounds like because it was water damaged, the motherboard might have corrosion. If fairly recent, leaving it unplugged and off, upside down like a tent, it might allow access water to escape and dry faster. Maybe after a day try again but who knows if needs a bit longer. Without having an expert and open it to look at the board, there is no way to know for sure the extent of the damage. Best to call around, get quotes telling them you most likely need motherboard repair due to water damage. It's not like it was a sticky substance, so it shouldn't be hard to fix.
