George, I understand your frustration with non-payment on eBay. I have had that problem before and it sucks! A different problem i had recently was an item sold and shipped through Global Shipping program. The item made it to the US hub, and shipped internationally and was still showing tracking updates, but the buyer got impatient and wanted a refund. I said no as it was still on its way, not lost. They filed a claim and eBay REFUNDED their money! I was fuming. This was an expensive Hermes item. So I had to call eBay, explain it and make them actually look at the tracking and they reversed their decision and gave me the money back. The customer got their item. It just shocked me that whoever at eBay got the customer claim didn't look into it before taking the funds. They need to do more to support sellers. Customers are NOT always right.

Oh that is so annoying! eBay's computer program doesn't always catch up to itself

One thing that I have noticed about you that I don't see or hear about some the other ebay sellers is that you are "transparent" You are visible about the products and you are trusted. Major bonus in my book. Have a great day

Thanks, it's so important, just as in real world antiquing

My wife and I are on Season 5 of Dallas as we speak. I vividly remember everyone in elementary school talking about "who shot JR". I love all of the high-style modern design in it! JR is a HUGE A-hole. LOL

Good wrap-up of July eBay sales, George. I enjoy selling on eBay and you made good points about why sales may be up or down at any given time. 😊

I'm glad that it's useful! I don't know the behind the scenes aspects of eBay, but I know what my experience with it is and try to learn as well

I had a different situation selling on eBay. An item sold and the person asked to pick up locally. No problem, except they never contacted me to arrange the pick-up. I sent at least 3 messages and got no response. It was a Christmas item so I was chagrined that I couldn't offer it up for sale again until after Christmas. I have kept my attempted correspondence, so I hope there will not be any problems. Thanks for all your info., George!

@crystalcrannell-moberg3828 I sold a series of TWA repair manuals years ago. The person paid $4000 for them and chose local pickup. I held them for over a year. As long as they stayed in contact then I was willing to hold them. The person eventually stopped answering my messages so I resold them. To this day I wonder what went wrong. I have heldany more expensive items for months for local pickup in the past without problems.

Hi George! Love your vibe and the knowledge you share. I have a few professionally framed antique playbills (3 of which were with vintage/ antique frames). The prices on eBay seem to be all over the place. How should I price them?

Please consider that someone who did not pay may have a hard time, like going to hospital, losing a close relative or simply his job. Or the computer with all Passwords crashed. Things can happen, like you showed us with the devasted areas where the tornado hit.

They could use their phone to follow-up on their purchases. Its easier than logging onto the computer. Sure things happen but Ive contacted the seller & that helps to work things out. Overall, Ebay is very useful. George I agree that communication and prompt payment are important. Im glad your sales worked out!

Indeed. Just reaching out to explain can do wonders. Otherwise, you just don't need to deal with people who bid on things they have no intention of paying on things...

@TheAntiqueNomad2 ай бұрын
You might consider sticking to very small and lightweight items, non-breakables and things that fit in standard sized mailing boxes. That makes it a lot easier, and cheaper for buyers if you live off in a corner of the continent
