Speed option play was Caleb's fault which he owned post-game, he had a check built right into that play to switch too, if the defensive look wasn't right'. But Caleb felt he would get delay of game checking out of play with only 10 secs on play clock coming out the huddle, so he just called hike and ran it anyways lol (Rookie mistake since we had timeouts to take even if the adjustment took too long) this is exactly why our center Shelton said it wasn't the right look for the play, that was an indictment against Caleb for not checking out of play and not a shot at Shane for calling the play. Im pretty sure the whole O-Line wiffed because they were all surprised Caleb called hike instead of the play check adjustment, they were all expecting to be called.
@SwiftSportsNetworkАй бұрын
@iculqqkn5768 there was 5, or 6 seconds on the clock at that point. Only option was to hike it or call a timeout
@iculqqkn5768Ай бұрын
@@SwiftSportsNetwork Exactly it is a rookie mistake to call hike causing his Lineman to fall like dominoes. Where a vet calls timeout or does the check call anyways with only 5 secs on clock and it is the responsibility of the HC to call the timeout when play clock hits 1 Sec. or eat the 'Delay Of Game' penalty. Im not going to crucify a rookie for doing what rooks do but wont sugar coat it neither by blaming everybody but him especially for that play in particular.

Finally, blowing Billings INT dead but then not blowing JT28s goal line play dead was horse💩.

I am not sure I agree with the breakdown of the 4th down analysis. You’re at the 1 yard line, most competent coaches with call run from under center to try to punch it in. Worst case if that doesn’t go through, then the other team gets the ball at their own 1 yard line and that’s still an advantageous position to be. Running option play when you know your line isn’t playing well is just nuts.

@technix86Ай бұрын
It all starts with the offensive line, and also a good center. Then left, right tackle, etc. A good offensive line can help open up those running lanes for a RB. Its no accident that the Bears RBs are doing bad right now, because it goes back to the O-line. In some of the plays it seems Caleb is also not in sync with his receivers at times. The good news is the defense is at least top 10 (some might say top 5).

That’s the thing about that play tho Swifty, on 4th & 1 you know the defense is pushing forward more than ever. So instead of calling a play where offense pushes back you put them in a position to be caught off guard and pummeled at the line. That was so much of the wrong play that it might not even be the o-line’s fault either. They weren’t supposed to finesse their way into the end zone they were supposed to bumrush them right back and build some type of confidence.

Johnson was our Montgomery and he should've been in for that one yard run , period! Swift with the Eagles had a top 10 o-line to run behind. Waldron's scheme & offense line coach isn't on same page so line coach changes or let him go. One thing to me is clear JF1 run threat had defences afraid which opened up holes for RB's & Caleb doesn't affect defence the same. I hope this home game is a win & I hope Karim gets to play. GO BEARS AND BEAR DOWN 🐻 ❤❤❤

The hype for this team was too high and now, without fields, the OL is exposed the way they were with Fields just Fields was bigger stronger and faster and inflated our pass protection numbers extending plays. Williams has similar ability but at the end of the day OL has been subpar at best and Coleman Shelton looks overwhelmed every week so far, maybe he’ll settle in but so far the OL has been completely overmatched through 3 weeks
@AntitiousАй бұрын
Should our identity be quick passes similar to 2000s patriots? To take press off oline, Caleb & helps the run. If Morgan is the problem. Should he be replaced before midway point in season or before bye. Which ever date is sooner bc there should be a sense of urgency.

I think 🤔 Starting RoJo over Swift would be smart. He's obviously better at tough yards so if they plan to keep using Swift the same way, I'd prefer RoJo gets the snaps. Herbert is used as your burner back. Swift used as your pass down back. But RoJo is getting those tough yards. If he's out there behind a FB, good luck stopping him 😳💯 Seeing more the Lions 2yard RB than the weapon Philly made. Shows he's being used wrong. Did they talk to the OC before signing him?!?! 😅 Cause he seems to have No plays for Swift 🤷🏻

Klint Kubiak is right there with Slowik and Ben Johnson and I say He might be the best of the three options for the point you just made about being a rookie O.C. with limited or no Play-Calling experience. Klint has the Saints balling out of their minds using same system as Getsy Slowik & Waldron obviously coaching tree is big part of that. (Not saying Klint Kubiak would've done any better than Shane if you hand him a Rookie QB and not a 10-year vet like David Carr, Jared Goff or even Geno Smith.) Only Bobby Slowik and Kyle S. have made this scheme 'POP' with rookie QBs like Stroud and Purdy who both shocked the world by doing it as rookies. Both Niners and Texans had future HoF LT for their rooks.

Swifty, I love ya man, but suspect head coaching along w/too much attempted trickery on offense is fairly obvious. I, like you, think it's too early to panic but we need to make things more simplified on O and get committed to the running game! I get that Caleb is exceptional, but he shouldn't have to worry about all the pre-snap motion/disguises and have some plays called to move the pocket where he really excels! I'm no expert, but a few obvious fixes are in order or maybe we really should start thinkn bout our next coaching staff.

@@SwiftSportsNetwork I'm not suggesting a lopsided run/pass ratio, but he's dropped back way too many times so far this season w/a poor O line, especially for a rookie...and not cuz we've been too far behind to run the ball either. I'd be interested to see the play-action numbers -seems to me he looks very comfy & accurate when those plays are called and the more runs, not even successful runs but simply more attempts (preferably w/RoJo between the tackles) will make for a very good PA pass game, and maybe even a roll-out/boot game as well. There's no way any team respects our run game right now. We're the epitome of one-dimensional.

Ultimately, you're correct tho nobody is getting fired and imo not even on the 'Hot Seat' right now because these growing pains are exactly what is to be expected with any rookie QB, since all Rookie QBs all do a good bit of rookie shit their first 4 games let alone a Rookie like Caleb who they allowing or asking, to make Line adjustments with C to go along with his play check calls (for perspective 6 year QB Baker Mayfield said Dave Canales wouldn't let him do that last season). So patience is what is required, and patience is what no fan / media has ever had, especially in Chicago.

Ryan Poles has done a very good job of flipping our roster, with the exception of this God awful, offensive line. I swear, Ryan “RuPoles” assembled a bunch of drag queens & said, “You betta Work!” (RuPaul’s hit song, lol). Now, we either need Donald Trump to come in and tell the entire offensive line, “You’re fired” or bring in Patches O’Houlihan as the new offensive line coach & have him start throwing wrenches at all of them, and taking them into the streets of Chicago, to block oncoming traffic! Only way to improve the Bears is to get rid of the mid lame duck head coach and the awful OC he brought in, Seattle was glad to get rid of him. 52 throws by Caleb Williams in his third NFL start with that terrible OL is coaching malpractice. Daniels already looks so much better

Anyone who has played the game knows that the game is won or loss through the trenches. Instead of drafting high-end position players we should have been drafting and working on both O and D lines first. Basic Football. Look at all the greatest dynasties. They are all real good O Line and a great D line. I will say this again! We should have traded down the last draft and acquired more real estate. Think about the players we could have drafted on both lines.

I wouldn't disagree, but I also think you have to take the RIGHT players, not just any player.

Seems he doesn’t know how to play to the strengths of the team. Waldron has not been good and nothing I see will change my mind that this whole staff is gone next year.

Again, this isn't really a question of the OLine ... or Talent on the OLine, QB, or anyone else for that matter. This is a question of LEADERSHIP. Yes, the OLine is playing significantly worse than last year, and yes, Waldron has made some questionable calls. But all of this rests on getting the OLine to STEP UP. Brax, Tev, and Darnell have all slipped up repeatedly so far this year ... playing down to the Nate Davis level. While Sheldon hasn't lived up to the expectation at all. Someone HAS to kick these guys in the Arse and get them to play up to the expectation level they SHOULD be playing up to. They have the talent. We've all seen it. So what the hell is going on?!!

Its not Waldron, the greatest running backs in history couldn't get 2 yards per carry with this o-line....we need a few guys with a little fire in thier belly and be able to move people off the line!!!

When you throw the ball 50x swifty your mostly likely gonna have a good passing day.. Morgan needs to go this organization needs to spend BIG MONEY on oline. An draft all linemen

Waldron was never a great caller in Seattle. Hilarious how many people were so "excited" about Gerald Everett as a te2 lol. A position that. Rarely matters. He has fone nothing. Waldron may have made for a decent geno smith but never had a great offensive or used his best guys properly. Dk is having his best start ever without waldron. Hell there offense is betterbwithout.
