How to fix Clip and Timeline BLACK/NOT LOADING issue in DaVinci Resolve

Another thing that could be cousing the issue is parsec(and other display drivers) , after I installed it this happened, it's a display driver. Honestly, I don't think your solution is too good, restart the pc is a basic thing, that should be the first thing u try as soon as you have any kind of issue pretty much..

Since it seems like this is helping people, another thing to do is to simply disable the parsec virtual display driver in device maneger, then just eneble it again when needed

I'm still having the same problem. In addition to this fix, I tried updating my computer, completely uninstalling Davinci Resolve & all of its components, Installing the latest version, & editing my graphic settings, which another tutorial said to do. And neither of them did anything. Where do I go from here?

these are probly because the pc/laptop might be low end Which is why this happens my pc is low end potato pc so it doesnt load the videos 😂😂

Hey guys, i had the same issue and the only fix that worked for me is to change the GPU processing mode to CUDA. HOPE IT WORKS FOR YOU!!!

i found another solution: drag the selected clip back to media pool, delete the one on the timeline, then drag it back from the media pool to the timeline. :-)

I am going out of my mind right now, Resolve was working just fine and then two days ago this issue started happening. I have been on the verge of ripping my hair out over this, it seems like nothing I try it fixing the problem. I took several peoples advice in the comment section here and it seems like it will run just fine for maybe 5 mins and then the playback screen is back to being black while I can still hear the audio. Closing the program and opening it is just a quick fix to only have the problem happen again, restarting the PC gives me the same results, I tried the deleting of the rendered cache same issue, I changed it from auto detecting the processing mode to manual same issue... so if anyone has any suggestions, Im all ears. Otherwise I have to basically open the program, use it for 5 mins, have it crash on me again, close it, and repeat... its gonna take all day to maybe get 10 mins worth of work done. Idk what to do

Try this it might help, Disable render cache. If you set the render cache to auto or user, try disabling that as I recently faced an issue like this where davinci resolve will automatically crash after 5 minute usage and for me the above solution fixed it.

@@rockytopbob I found a fix! It took me a long time doing research, but I had to roll back my graphics card to a previous version and its been working fine ever since. Look into that buddy 👍 Hope it helps

mine is still broken, could it be because i have windows 11? tried restarting my pc multiple time but nothing changed, after words i tried deleting and reinstalling it, again nothing changed(did this multiple times). After those failed i tried messing with the graphics settings . no change ....

I am using windows 11 and it fixed the issue..... Try completely uninstalling resolve, uninstall resolve and delete the resolve folder from programdata folder... Also try converting your videos to another format

Are your videos on a hard drive? Since hard drives are slow it can cause issues like this

For me the guide in the video fixed the issue. You can try completely uninstalling and reinstalling resolve. Guide for that is available in the channel. Also, you can completely uninstall and reinstall your gpu drivers.

You just need to wait for sometime automatically fixes itself. Delete cache files - click windows+R and type %temp% click enter and delete all files

You can only try newer versions as when you try newer version your database will be updated to latest one make it impossible to use it with older version of resolve.

@@TechCycle thanks but the main issue i have is taht all the versions i have installed right from my project screen it displays all as black with that resolve logo... when i open it everything inside is black, when i import files it is black... i use a HP pavillion 15 game upgraded to 16gb ram and 1.5 TB rom... and i have tried reolve 14-18.... i amm really sad RN cause i have my sister's wedding video to edit, and now i'm taking crash courses on premier pro.. i feel really sad... sorry for the long talk

I fixed this by disabling a display adaptor called "LuminonCore IDDCX Adapter" in Device Manager > Display Adapters. Then in Resolve, changing to the Fairlight Tab made everything come back to life.

I can't play the video in Resolve. I have done:1) updated graphics driver2) re-installed Resolve3) restarted the computer4) tried to "Generate optimized media" It just keeps on going for several hours with 1%5) Saved that Resolve use the graphics in high performance setting. Try using shutter encoder to encode the video to something else and try playing the video. In shutter encoder use dnxhr format.

FRIENDS I FIXED IT ON MY PC!!!! i just went to Windows Device Manager, select Display Adapters, right click Virtual Desktop Monitor and select Disable Device. Its the only solution i found, and i have had this problem for a long time and tried everything. Hope its helpful.

i am done with it and i am sick of it! allways an issue here and an issue there while their. either, as someone told me, they got a contract with some GPU makers to so make people go grab some new GPU - and them tellin about almost imadiatly the gpu is the issue makes sense to this - or they give a F on the free version and its users and whether it works or not. we need to see it this way: they make money with cams and that kind of stuff and with studios who have huge amounts of budget as for us private users they literaly do not give a fuck at all

i did this and more then this brother but it simply does not work at all. And now after that guy tellin me they do not support the free version and even if i had the studio version there is no guarantee it is gonna work i am quitting that piece of trashy software that does only exist to catch some new costumers ! people like that casey guy get probably money from BMD to promote that trash software and of course theirs does run because they got the budget to run it and till now i never saw one davnic guru who runs the free version without any issue ! i almost bought the studio version one year ago thanks GOD i did not no matter how much people tellin how good that piece of shit called Davinci NOresolve is , they simply fuckin LIE ALL
