If you keep having issues with this P0521 code, check your oil filter. I only use the AC Delco PF-47E bcuz it's recommended. They have an updated filter (UPF48R), bcuz the PF-47E can cause low oil pressure. You can also use Mobil 1 M1-113 bcuz it's identical to the newly recommended AC Delco filter. Ive replaced the oil pressure sensor twice within 2yrs now. I just installed the 2nd one today. Im going to switch filters and see if that helps. All this info I found on a Chevy forum, so hopefully it helps someone here.

Thanks for the video! I was able to do this job in about 30 minutes. 5/16 bolt is definitely the size needed to get that filter out.

Hands down the best video for this fix. Last one I watched had the top end of the engine removed.

Congrats on your success. I went out and bought all the stuff, including the socket. I can't even get the old one off in spite of trimming that heat shield. Can't even touch it climbing in the engine compartment. I've done quite a few repairs using KZbin . Anyway, I called a mechanic. Maybe because I'm 69? LOL

Have a 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe....Although this video rocks and is very informative, it absolutely sucked replacing the sensor on my vehicle, due to the location of the part. As peeps in other videos stated, "It's a blind job."

Great video man. Have to replace this little guy and wasn't sure how to do it. Cheers.

Will it hurt the truck if you don't fix it right away?
@willieb19 Жыл бұрын
I doubt it. My truck ended up having multiple oil leaks that i had fixed by a mechanic so that may have contributed to my oil pressure issue.

How do you get the wire harness off? Thanks

So did you actually need to replace the oil pressure sensor or just the filter.

Did mine and check engine light cleared. But, now I have two permanent error codes displayed on my scanner P0521 & P0523! Any ideas why?
@Smokin2Stroke9 ай бұрын
Me too
@DansDieselPerformance8 ай бұрын
Permanent codes will self clear, once you drive the vehicle 100-300 miles or so, the computer runs a drive cycle to make sure the oil pressure sensor is reading correctly then it will self clear.

I just bought a 2013 from an online dealer with 81K miles. The PO521 code came up on the way home, about 700 miles into a 850 mile drive. The truck runs perfectly. Any suggestions on where I should start? Replacing the sensor and especially the filter seems like the the way to go but any other advice.

Keep an eye on oil consumption. I traded mine it at 100k miles because it was using 2 quarts every 5,000 miles.

I just bought a 2013 and it has the same issue. Please lmk if anything ever happened
@Golfzilla19616 ай бұрын
My oil had about 30% life left according to the computer. I went ahead and changed the oil because I had no idea what was in the truck. I reset the code at that time and never had a problem again. The oil pressure was immediately much better after the change and stayed that way, no codes.

Do you think this is the same process for the 6.0 2008?

What else could it be? I replaced mine but it did not fix the issue. I get the issue to go away by blowing air through the orifice where the sensor goes every time I do an oil change. It fixes the issue for about 2 months and then it comes back and my gauge starts reading lower oil pressure.
@jbueno068 ай бұрын
Any update on that issue
@carlossotelo54207 ай бұрын
@@jbueno06Yes. If it’s not the sensor, you will most likely need to replace the O-ring on the oil pick up tube. It’s not an expensive job if you do it yourself but it is labour intensive. I did it myself and it fixed the issue right away. The O-ring gets brittle and it does not seal properly causing the pump to suck air in and causing the low oil pressure problem. Hope this helps. Good luck

@@carlossotelo5420I replaced lifters with new guides, had head job done, oil pump, vlom, pickup tube, timing, oil pressure sensor and and gaskets exposed replaced. Along with water pump, alternator since I was there. Still have low oil pressure and motor still vibrates with in 4cyl. AFM system on this 2013 5.3L silverado. Im still working on it. 192k miles

Would the code cause a loss of power?

I don't know. It could put the truck into a "safe" mode but I would think that is a different code.
