Well it takes a stylist who cares about the health of the hair and is intuitive in nature to really know how to meet the needs of each client .. what relaxer are you using on it at home ?

Candayceo Hair Artistry Im using a Profesional relaxer 😳 (Mizani with Lye). I know it’s not safe when you’re not a licensed stylist, but I really did my research during several months to really understand the science and watched every video available on youtube. I feel like I know enough to do it myself, I have great results. Last time I went to a hair salon, the stylist used a lye relaxer in mid strenght. I was not happy with the results I let her know I wanted something straighter. She then dry my hair, and put a no-lye relaxer in high strength. Because she didn’t have anymore of the lye relaxer ... such a shame ... But thank you for your video it was really informative and I will never advise anyone to do like me because it takes serious dedication and I am aware of it. I wish every stylist were like you, so maybe I would have not spend the last 10 years of my life with miserable hair. :(

It’s recommended not to do your own but everybody has different situations .. I say if you do it yourself at least use a professional because it’s better for the hair ... Mizani is a great relaxer so I’m glad your using a professional one .. thank you for the compliment .. Let me know if you have any questions .

Hi! I just got a relaxer touch up after a 6 month stretch. Everything looked fine until I sweat my hair out exercising and noticed the left back quadrant of my hair was underprocessed. How long do you recommend I wait to go back and get that area corrected? It's been 4 days.

Hey beauty..I'm trying to appreciate the fact that your a stylist and most likely your fully aware of what our ppl go through with regards to our hair. But I have to tell you with all due respect having your hair done at the salon versus doing it yourself does not guarantee that it will be done properly. Technique, skill set, knowledge,focus and attention to detail is what makes the difference. I could go either way this one...but thanks for explaining the differences that exist in the chemical compounds in the relaxers😊

I do agree ! This video is to educate so you can quickly identify when a so called professional don't know their craft. I had to add fluff to make it entertaining because it is long . My intention was to educate not to per se say that if you get it done by a professional it's going to be 💯. These stylist these days don't even know chemistry 😫. Thank you for watching

@@candayceodomI used silk elements, Revlon realistic, I used a lot of lithium hydroxide formulas (soft and beautiful texturizer, Lusters pink texturizer) too since I read their composition is almost identical to sodium hydroxide- all fails. Only when I used super strength did I get straight hair but also fried hair. And my fine hair has no business using Super so I’m done with lye. My hair is texturized at this point which I’m fine with but my roots got straight with no lye- but I’ll work with it

I'm sure you're wonderful professional stylist who actually cares about the health of afro hair, however, you are very rare. I just texturized my hair at home with regular strength s curl. I have been watching videos on people who have been relaxed for many years and have long healthy hair. I figured that girls or men with very long relaxed hair that's healthy and thriving are the best examples to follow. I got the products that they suggested as the calcium relaxers actually hurt my hair in the past. Now I use sodium hydroxide lye relaxers. Everyone's hair is different and mine just did not respond well to calcium or no lye. 😞 My hair felt a lot stronger after I did it. It was my first time doing a texturizer. My hair came out shiny and stronger than it has ever been after having done relaxers or texturizers in the past. Having been natural for a few years, I now know how to take care of my hair. I wish it was possible to have more professional, caring stylists like you, but that simply is not realistic.

How long after doing your relaxer at home can you do a corrective relaxer?
@biancalord488
@biancalord488 4 жыл бұрын
Wait at least 8 weeks with two - four deep aphogee protein treatments and four deep conditioning treatments in between. Your hair needs to be at its strongest and healthiest state. No braids, weaves, heat, color, or chlorine. Also prepare to see mild shedding when done correctly, medium shedding at worst. Do it yourself ONLY as a last resort. If left on too long or done incorrectly Extreme hair breakage and shedding will occur. Not trying to scary you, just a few words of caution. Good luck! I’m doing my own in August.
@candayceodom
@candayceodom 4 жыл бұрын
8 weeks also I don’t recommend doing protein treatments at home . Aphogee is a protein treatment and should only be done once a month . To much protein will break the hair . You can deep condition it but a skilled professional will know how to do your corrective relaxer with no damage .

I'm surprised that you recommend putting a corrective relaxer on the hair roots to end. I thought it only went on the new growth that was underprocessed. Am I wrong?
@candayceodom

That’s why it’s corrective . The hair is under processed not over processed . You run it over all the hair to correct all of the under processed hair .

I wish this was true for everyone but it's not. I live in Egypt and believe it or not, they be frying the ish out of afro textured hair at salons. I thought because I live in Africa I'd be able to get my hair done properly. I was dead wrong. I do better with the home relaxer.

You have to understand hair textures really well to choose the right relaxer for that texture .. How you apply it and how long you leave it on playa a big part in what it does to the hair .. combing it with a comb is a no . Putting it on the edges first is a no .. They need to be properly educated .. Do what works for you if you don’t have a skilled professional to do it for you .
