Thank you very much. I saw my date and time was off then had to change my boot configuration from Legacy to UEFI. That worked like a charm. Took several minutes to reboot but it's up again. Had a power surge go through my office because the neighborhood transmitter blew out and rocked my computer's configuration. Appreciate the tips. Super helpful.

How you change bios from legacy to UEFI. Did you add in boot sequence.

@@nishunigam22801. You need to look around your BIOS to find where those settings are. Sometimes you can change between the two with a dropdown menu. Other times, it would be disabling one, activates the other. Every BIOS is different. 2. If you cannot find where to do that, or if doing it does not help, can you run the Dell diagnostic scan?

I've got one for you. I have a Dell 3420 Precision SFF. Booting from USB to Open Media Vault 6 (Linux NAS software). Using Legacy in the BIOS, it boots one time. If I re-boot or have power failure, it will not reboot again without going into the BIOS again, change a setting, and exiting. It will then boot. Until a re-boot or powerfailure. I am using wireless (usb dongled) keyboard and sometimes I could hit key when I got the "no boot device found error" and it would boot up without going into the BIOS. I decided to update the BIOS to latest and now wireless keyboard not recognized until after the BIOS??? I am curious if I flash back an older BIOS on it without messing it up. Wish I figure this out. It's a pain to have to go into the BIOS every time I need to reboot the thing

Okay, I figured out that Storage was on AHCI/NVMe instead of Raid On. I switched it back to that and saw UEFI RST Intel Optane 476.9 GB (I assume that's the C drive) but there were no other boot options. Diagnostics came back with no issues.

I have an issue with an Inspiron 7373 where I get a black screen without the dell logo, with what seems like no response from the hardware. Sometimes I get lucky and I can get into diagnostics and BIOS settings when the logo does show up. I’ve unattached all external hardware and diagnostics show no issues with hardware, but no bootable device found. I also changed in the BIOS from UEFI to Legacy, and the reboot doesn’t take me to the logo again at restart and there’s only a black screen 😢 it’s just a black screen with no signs of the hardware working. Is there anything else I can try?

Had a new window ac unit in apt and it was causing surges even tho i had a surge protector idk if that caused this because i didnt do anything to it just went to use it like normally and no boot device found. After a clean installation of windows 11, this error message popped up. Tried all the solutions but it doesn’t boot from SSD. Now if I insert bootable USB, and turn on the system, it says press any key to boot from USB, I won’t press any key, and then system boots from SDD and works fine until shutdown, restarted or hibernated again. I somehow messed up along the way and while in the settings I reset the settings to user custom settings and it buffered for a while before shutting off and disallowing me from booting up or doing anything, boot machine seems to just not exist at all anymore as every button just reboots, including every f1 key on the thing.

The only error I get during diagnostics, is battery life getting low (but still "fair"). Would this battery cause the "No boot device found" error? I tried setting from UEFI to Legacy, but I had to disable PTT. That didn't work though. Im at a loss.

Hey. Here's the problem: there is no csm or legacy boot option in my 1.15 dell bios. I think this might be the solution, but the bios just doesn't have these options at all. Not even bootable usb are working, they come back to the no bootable devices problem. Also, the usb can only the seen in the boot manager, not in the bios setup. Could this be a bios issues?

There's no boot manager in my Inspiron 3671s BIOS. My hard drive does not show up in the boot sequence. Sometimes it wil boot into windows, But the boot drive never shows on the Boot Menu when I hit F12. Why when I restore to default BIOS settings doesn't it fix the problem, if improper BIOS settings are the number one problem?

@@PC_Monkey I'm just trying to install a fresh copy of Windows 10. It installs fine, but still has trouble booting. No Windows boot manager. When I browse for boot file it says no operating system found. Give me an aftermarket BIOS over a Dell or HP anytime.

@@PC_Monkey Hi, thanks for responding. I've tried everything as far as recovery. It looks like a Bios issue though. The thing that started it (for the second time), was when I tried updating the Realtek driver. The system froze, so I did a reboot, which started the death spiral. To be honest, I think I'll just reinstall Windows 11. Will I need an OS key once I have it installed? Can I get that from Dell. I also don't really want that Dell bloatware on the laptop anyway. When I went to power off I selected the update and power off option. After a few seconds I got a loud "beep" and now I have the No Boot Device message. I ran the diognastic on the hard drive and that passed. When I go into the Boot configuration the Boot Sequeice is blank.

Since second to last post, I shutdown the bad PC when I couldn't figure out how to get sufficient free space to the primary drive during the windows 10 reinstall. Now, when I try to restart PC, without windows 10 reinstall USB, the PC gets to the Dell logo, and starts over -- another loop? The HD tests were done immediately after observing the "No Boot...." problem appeared. Feel like I'm slipping down deeper in that proverable rabbit hole.

I have an Optiplex 7040 micro. I ran diagnosis and it said bad hard drive. I the unplugged and went to UEFI, hit enter and I'm up and running again. I am unable to work on it, disabled with bad arthritis in my hands. I don't have much money I looked up new hard drives at Dell, $160.00. Do you refurbished computers?

Yes, I repair computers. A HDD should not charge that much. Does your computer take a Hard Drive (HDD) or a Solid State Drive (SSD)? You should be able to get a compatible SSD for your computer for around $45 USD if I searched correctly

Hi. Went through everything here and ended up at the point of reinstalling windows 11, however when I get to the point where it asks where i want to install it it says cannot create new partition or locate existing one. There are currently two partitions- 1. Is reserved (which it says incant use), and the other is my data which I am trying to save. Yes, you should be able to install Win10 if you have Win10 Install Media :) That may wipe Windows but more likely it will just wipe your DATA

@@Chqnged If you pulled out one of your drives and then got a 'No Boot' error, I would assume that the OS was on the drive you pulled out. The OS needs to be installed onto the drive that the computer is trying to boot off of.

@@PC_Monkey Thanks for your response. However, there was no "diagnostic scan" since it wasn't even booting up (thought I mentioned that). No liquid spill, no overheating (virtually new & hardly used), BUT did have a recent Windows update (hmmm...). Long story short, after reading a multitude of message boards, I came upon a recommended fix of "disconnect power source at pc backside, reconnect while rapidly pressing F10 over and over. Guess what...it worked. In your opinion could it have been the Windows update? Appreciate the help.

@@queenegreene3926 'Not booting up' can mean quite a lot of things :) Since you said your computer wasnt booting up despite trying these methods, I assumed you had actually tried the methods seen here, which is why I asked you what the result of the scan was if you had run it. If that method you mentioned worked to turn the computer on then no, most likely the operating system / windows update was not the issue. Sounds like a BIOS issue. But its hard to say without examine it in person :( Glad your all set !!

@@Pgh2Dall If the diagnostic scan cannot see your HDD, its most likely bad or just loose. Try 'reseating' it as seen here. Run the scan again. Now that my PC is in a startup loop, can I bypass that problem by inserting the install USB and tapping F12? I want to recover my personal file, so I should select that choice, correct? Last time, I choose the latter and made it to the drive selection windows, and selected the primary drive with 465GB Allocated and 465GB free space but received "not enough space to continue", so if I select Repair and Recovery will I be able to fix not enough space and continue with install? I got little confused after watching the 4 vids you cited in your last post and maybe you can give me a few steps to follow to save files and fix this PC.

Yes, I would try the Repair and Recovery options first to try and save your DATA assuming the HDD is still healthy. Have you ran the test as seen here to test the drive?

But what if under BIOS nothing is showing? Under boot sequence is has a plus sign next to add boot option. However, you can't browse to find one. Also it says UEFI only and that legacy mode is not supported.

@PC_Monkey the result of the scan was good. I did another one that checked everything and it came back good as well. I was playing a game on it then it suddenly showed me the screen saying no bootable device.

If changing the settings in BIOS did not help and the diagnostic scan showed the hard drive to be healthy, then you can proceed with the rest of the video. You can try the Repair or Recovery options in BIOS or undoing the last update if applicable. If that does not help, your last resort would be to install a new operating system. Hello, can you help me? I have a Dell Inspiron 3593. Everytime I first boot in the morning, it always beeps and tells me "Boot Device Not Found" and when I checked the bios, there's not a single drive there. But it reappears and boots properly when I just leave it for awhile in the error screen. I'm using an m.2 NVME SSD. This is a brand new SSD that I bought because I thought that maybe my old SSD was just faulty.

hello . what do you think the problem would be if the issue is intermittent sometimes it works fine other times it doesn't and i just turn back on and it then works . would swapping the sata ports over help ? cheers

1. It depends on if the HDD connection is the issue. Dont sound like it is. Sounds more like an OS issue. 2. did anything happen before this issue appeared? Liquid spill, overheating, Windows update, etc?

@@PC_Monkey Hi thanks for replying . i didn't use the computer for 6 months then got back and turned it on and got this fault straight away . has been intermintent for 2 months now..i have since changed the cmos battery whilst computer running because i wanted to keep the bios settings but this hasn't fixed the fault . the OS IS ON SATA 3 as 3 hardrives in there . NOT SATA 1 PORT . i was going to switch over as not sure what else to do

1. does changing the time in windows 10 settings. change the bios time ? 2 .i had 1 severe virus on laptop and computer in quarantine in windows defender . 3 years on they have now gone from protection history but low level ones remain there . where did they go? 3. when computer starts up is there a time limit setting in bios settings where motherboard has to recognise OS as read something on this 4.would a virus stop computer booting also ? cheers@@PC_Monkey

Hard drive passed the test and date and time is correct, but I do not have anything in my boot sequence. When I try to add a boot option I get nothing. PLS HELP 🙏
