Incredible. A tear down video for my old pc monitor from almost 15 years ago. And this video was made just a year ago. Appreciate it man.

Can anyone tell me where I can get the power cord for this monitor?

the ribbon connector at 2:30 will not come out for me, I squeezed it really, REALLY hard, and was pulling like in the vid but it wouldn't budge at all.
@FixItPhil4 жыл бұрын
Yeah that's a tough one to disconnect. You may end up needing to use a tiny flat-head screw driver to give you a little extra leverage.

Finally removed the stand! Now im having trouble with the multimeter😅 which ohm setting should i set it to?
@FixItPhil4 жыл бұрын
If the capacitor is removed from the circuit then a multimeter set as an ohm meter can be used, but only to perform an all-or-nothing test. This test will only show if the capacitor is completely dead, or not. Here's a short tutorial on that: bit.ly/2QuPotF To perform a check on a capacitor while it is still installed in a circuit, an ESR meter will be necessary. Hope this helps!

any tip when all the capacitor reads are good?
@FixItPhil3 жыл бұрын
It could be another component on one of the boards. Usually if the LCD isn't coming on at all, it's related to the power board, which you can sometimes find as a replacement part and is not too expensive, so you could try swapping out yours out for a new one.

I cant remove the stand, any help? Im pressing the button and it clicks but the stand will not budge
@FixItPhil4 жыл бұрын
Do you have the same model monitor? After pressing the release button, keep it held down and pull up and out from the bottom of the screen, as shown at 0:40. It was pretty easy for me, but yours may be a little stuck for some reason. If you have a different model perhaps there is a screw or another catch you have to release.

Are you serious??? Simple fix for a $200/$300!!! Simpler solution is not to buy a Dell in the first place.
@FixItPhil4 жыл бұрын
Haha, truth. Luckily this was a discarded monitor from work that I decided to patch up and use at home, so it only cost me the couple dollars for the new capacitors and a moment of my time.

My dell se198wfpf monitor last 13 years until today it, out of no signs, won't turn on with power. 13 years! It survives 4 pc overhauls/builds, and still serves as my backup pc for work. Thanks FixItPhil I will give it a try, it does seem more compacted and complicated than other monitors -- lot of screws and clips to remove before even reaching the capacitor itself...
