I will save you some money guys...I had the same problem in my mustang 07 the problem is that those little contacts because the age gets dirt.. I took off the switch ..i bought a can of QD ELECTRONIC CLEANER (it won't damage the switch) and I sprayed inside while I was moving the switch back and forth and I fixed that way it's been two months since I did it and it's working now! If it doesn't work gotta be something else ! Good luck!

Fredy Castillo, I don't know if you will see this because your reply is from a year ago, but I did exactly what you said and my switch is working now. You saved me $100. Thank you! Also, it makes me wonder how many people replace for absolutely no reason just because the contacts are dirty.

Yes you must spray some electronic contact cleaner directly on the terminals the name of the bottle is called deoxit and you can buy it only online at Amazon or at any guitar Center music store. Switch is Good as new now no bs

you are the bomb! got my 2007 GT back in order thanks to you. Autozone had the part for $130. 10 minutes to remove and 5 minutes to pop back in! i could not reach the pedals at all because it would only go backwards. now i'm dancing with joy.

This video pretty funny. First off, calling a switch "absolute garbage" when it lasted 12 years?? If you were replacing the same switch every couple of years....yeah...maybe garbage...but it lasted TWELVE YEARS? When would an electrical component NOT be garbage....if it lasted 20 years....30 years? One thing for sure, it was absolute garbage after attacking it with that big knife. The driver seat in my '06 GT became intermittent when trying to move forward, then quit altogether, so I searched KZbin for the likely failure modes, maybe gears in a motor, maybe wiring, maybe electrical connections....BUT most of the "seat forward" problems in older Mustangs seemed to be the switch bit the dust. I didn't use a big bladed knife, but used small jeweler-type screwdrivers to carefully disassemble switch. It's called 'finesse'. The contacts were burned more on the 'forward' direction than the 'back' direction, and a quick check with a multimeter showed several ohms of resistance on the forward contacts, none on the reverse. Cleaned them with a contact burnishing tool and sprayed contact cleaner for good measure, and coated with conductive grease for laughs. The other two switches on the assembly are identical, so cleaned them too. So far so good. These kind of switches, if they will disassemble easy enough, can usually be fixed for zero $$ if you have the right tools and skills to troubleshoot and repair them. Better than $150.

This shit helped a lot thank you. I found it 10 times easier to just take off the 4 bolts that mount the seat, then just lift it up and detach the switch housing. Messing with the clips on the plastic covering were a nightmare lol.

For everyone asking about the seat clips, there should be two clips, one in front and one in back, I got them off by elevating the seat, and reaching under and carefully prying using a flathead screwdriver. Just be careful not to break the clips, because they are fragile

On the screw gear or screw pulley I don't know what it's called there should be gear oil or Jack oil hydraulic oil on that screw not slatted all over the place just some where your finger will touch immediately and for the duration of however far forward or backwards you decide to go a once or twice application should do it for the life of the car we called it a pneumatic screw Jack I don't know what they were refer to it in relation to the car but I'm pretty sure you guys get the picture

Hi, im having the same problem, on my 2005 gt. My seat is all the way back and when i want to go forward it just makes a noise but doesn’t go forward, did this happen to you if so does that mean the motor broke
@johnlippsmeyer675 жыл бұрын
My motor was intact, so it was solely a switch issue. If your motor makes noise like it is spinning but nothing moves, it is most likely sheared gears
