How to fix Engine Misfiring - Astra H 2004-2009

Astra H mk5 2006 Petrol 1.6 engine misfire. Error Code P0303. Which mean Cylinder 3 misfire detected.
So to resolve this issue I have decided to replace all spark plugs and coil pack. I have purchased parts on ebay as they are a lot cheaper. Coil pack in shop costs from £90.
Parts from ebay:
4 Spark plugs - £10
Coil Pack - £28.99
1. First scan what code is stored in ECU using OBD2.
2. Remove plastic cover.
3. Unplug connector on the right side
4. Remove 2 bolts - holding coil pack.
5. Take out the old coil pack
6. Unscrew first Spark plug and replace with new one.
7. Repeat this with all spark plugs.
8. Make sure all spark plugs are tight.
9. Do not overtight them.
10. Insert new #Coil #pack
11. Clear error code.

Ive got p300-p304 code coming up. So i guess i have trouble with plugs. They're new . Few months old.

I did the coil pack and spark plungs and same error comes on... Every time after 1 min of running the engine...

If you have a EcoTec engine and these parts don't fix misfire. Check cylinder compression. Head gasket may need replacing. Done all the above Coil Pak & spark plugs new. Misfire still on #4 code.

Yes lad, i have a 1.4 Astra H Gtc 2007 the engine is misfiring so do you rekon its the coil pack n spark plugs?

Hey Mate, its very common problem, it depends when last time it was changed. you can take it to garage if you unsure, they will test for you. Hope that helps :)

Great video! I have an Astra H 1.6 twinport. I get an error when the engine is cold and when they drink it below 15 degrees misfire 303. advice?

@@simash9213 I had the same problem. Garagist told to buy new coil pack n spark plugs, I did but problem not fixed, then he checked the compression> 2nd cylinder = 0 compression. So here I am with new coil pack n spark plugs [useless] and have to spend more on who knows what

I got the same problem with my astra H, which simptoms got yours before you changed the spark plugs and coil pack? I am booked for service Saturday but I still have to drive 70 miles everyday, is it alright if I drive it like this? I don't want to damage something else. Scanned and got the second cylinder fault. Well my engine light come up and the engine wasn't working fine, sounded more rough and vibrations. I drove mine around 20 miles, and when i replaced the parts. Also, after a couple days i have changed engine oil and filter too. However, personally I wouldn't recommend you to do 140 miles. As it might cause some bigger issues.

@@simash9213 same simptoms on mine, and loss of power, there is no engine light on dash, it's just the simptoms. I have no choice but to drive it for another 140 miles till Saturday. 😪😪😪

Hi, i have a Opel astra h, gtc 2008 here in spain. Engine looks much the same as this one in video. I have error code P0301. So misfire in 1st cylinder. I took out spark plug from No2, and swapped with No1. No differance. So my problem is, do i just go ahead and buy a new ignition coil pack costing €60. How did you know that new coil pack was going to fix problem ?? I could buy new coil pack and there still is a problem ??? I dont have a cylinder head compression tool. Should i get that checked first ??

Hi, of course it would be the best to check cylinder compression, if you don't have a tool you can ask do to in garage, for few euros. I knew that I need to change coil pack as I noticed it only last around 70-90k miles. Last time I changed it was 75k miles ago. so I knew its time for new one. My Friend had similar issue his coil pack lasted about 85k miles. I would recommend you to get new spark plugs too :)

Simas, i just took the chance and bought new coil pack online, and spark plugs, total €57. Parts arrived today, 30mins later started her up and perfect !!! Yippppeee Obd reader then cancelled fault code ! So thanx for ur help !!

Salut am și eu o problema la opel nu îi dă de cap nimeni la service-uri.. Mi-a apărut martorul Motor, am făcut vreo 2 teste diagnoza intre timp. O sa las erorile sa le vezi.. Ce poate o fi , băieții de acolo au zis ca mașina nu are nmk..adevărul este ca merge bine, trage, dar apare martorul motor, A șters eroarea, după un timp a reaparut, iar am fost cu ea la service și am pus testerul..aceleași erori.. Vreau sa spun ca am schimbat Bujiile, sonda lambda, Bobina de inducție ! Toate noi ! Ce o avea ? Mașina merge bine trage, adică nu da semne ca ar fi o problema. chestia e ca apare (check engine) Mulți au spus ca s-ar putea sa fi calculatorul ECU, de la motor. VOI ce credeți?
