The mark of a true master. When you can take someone else's mistake/problem, diagnose it in minutes, and fix it so easily. Me, I would have been forced to trash it and forget doing it.

That was a really interesting video. I will probably never make a flute but sure enjoy all the skill and care you put into teaching flute enthusiast how to do so. I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of my googol flute. 😇

Ah ha ! My first one I made has a small sound hole and sounds well. Now i will start again with more confidence. The Kits I bought from you turned out great. I could just buy them from you , make , wood burn designs, stain and seal , add feathers, and sell for a small profit . I might do that just to have a few nice products at fairs , etc . , with lack of power tools it's been tough making a flute for 40 hours and failing .

Thanks for the video! I tried it on some of my flutes that are jumping octave on the top hole, but sadly they are still doing it. Is there anything else that could remedy this? They are in tune but if you blow hard at all on that hole the sound jumps to the next Octave. Also it would be really cool to see a video of the milling machine! I’m thinking about going that route as well for more precision. Thank you for your contributions. I can’t tell you how much your work has enriched my life through flute making. Blessings brother. :)

What is the right tone for a Bamboo cane?

Awesome video! I was wondering what size whistle holes do you make for a G and for an A? And how wide do you burn your tracks? I've been working on a few elderberry wood flutes(the wood has a huge foamy pith so I just sand it out) and I'm having trouble with making my whistles sound, not sure if the hole is too wide or long, I have really clean 45° edges so I don't think thats the problem, any advice would be much appreciated!

How many times a month should you oil a western cedar flute?
@BlueBearFlutes2 жыл бұрын
That's a great question. Honestly, only when it seemed to be dried out. This could be as much as two or three times however after the first few months it will appear less and less dried out as it oil builds up inside of the wood.

@@BlueBearFlutes Thank you!! My son needed to know. He's a young guy who is so interested in learning about these flutes. He really wants to make his own but we don't have the equipment. We are looking to move a bit north of you so maybe we can visit the workshop one day. Thanks for the great flute!! He loves it.

How do I play that opening music? I have high pitched squeaks coming out.😂
@BlueBearFlutes Жыл бұрын
This is how: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e3XZmYathJ56ncU And as far as high-pitched squeak, you're probably blowing too hard or the block has slid over the sound hole. Please check out some of my other videos for help on this.

I bought a very pretty used native flute. I feel like the finger holes are too small, can I drill them bigger without ruining my flute?

No, you can't drill them bigger without changing the tuning.

@@BlueBearFlutes Thank you. It seems like it is really quiet and airy compared to my other flute, which is a Butch Hall Little Horse in A minor
@BlueBearFlutes7 ай бұрын
@pattyklawitter4253 I love the names some other flute makers give their flutes! That's funny! Yeah, the problem is the person who made this pretty flute hadn't developed their flute making skills yet. They may get there some day, but in my 38 years and over a million flutes later in more than 100 countries, plus teaching millions of people to make flutes, I can say the problem isn't likely the fingerings alone. I'm not putting the flute maker down, but in all politeness, they likely "haven't developed their flute making skills yet." You'd be welcome to contact me through my website and I may be able to help you. 🙂
