How To Fix Flipped Normals In Blender & Unity

Sometimes when you import the game asset mesh from Blender to Unity, it looks like the mesh normals are flipped inside-out. Follow this video tutorial to learn why it happens and how to fix it!

Well, yes, to fix flipped normals, you just need to flip them back, lol. But if you don't know why this is happening and how to do it properly, you will flip your table.

I was making a minecraft mod and faced this problem while importing a deco prop model. After struggling with UV maps getting out of the borders, (wich caused the model to fail loading for some reason) this problem made me loose all hope in my abilities. Thank you. I don't work with Unity but I was making a character model and the right arm and leg was just a flipped left arm and leg. Didn't think anything of it at the time but I wanted to make the character have clothes that act like normal in physics so I turned the whole thing to rigid body and collision so it would interact with the cloth. It worked normal on the left arm but the right arm started eating the cloth, it was so weird. Had no idea what was going on. If I hadn't taken a Maya class a year ago and remembered a dumb thing of one side of the place acts differently to the other I would never of figured it out. Flipping the left arm to right also turned it out and the arm was interacting with the cloth it was just it was passing through the outside and getting stuck inside. That's why it was "eating" the cloth. Anyway I fixed it, thanks so much.

Want an alternative to this? I tried this and it kind of worked, but not fully, so I selected the mesh I wanted, did tab to edit, pressed a to select all the faces, then mirrored it on the x global which resulted in the same result and worked perfectly. Anyways, great simple video, especially for me, "I'm not very good with blender" love that it gets straight to the point too. Thank you!
