So your telling me you got that result using only two materials for the whole scene?!
@LMHPOLYКүн бұрын
Yup. I used 1 material for the whole scene for all of the floor, wall, ceiling, and construction meshes, and another material with transparent texture for leaves.

Using Blender 4.1.1 I'm following the tutorial but unwrapping the barrel creates a weird shape different from the video. I don't know what's going wrong

Blender 4.1 there is no option named Normal in Data properties
@LMHPOLY19 күн бұрын
They changed how smooth shading works in Blender 4.1 Do this instead: RCLICK > Shade Smooth by Angle And at the bottom left corner open up the tab called 'Shade Smooth by Angle' to change the settings. You can also do this with a modifier now. Also new in Blender 4.1. After RCLICK > Shade Smooth by Angle Go to the Modifiers tab and add a 'Smooth by Angle' modifier. This way, you can always go back and change the normal Angle without repeating the (RCLICK > Shade Smooth by Angle)

For newer versions of unity at least for me i had to change Smoothness Source to From Angle to get the Smoothing Angle slider to do anything

This helped SO MUCH. Straight to the point and simple. I have been EVERYWHERE to figure this out and they all told me some kind of roundabout way. This, this was perfect. Thanks so much.

The only thing is I have a model that you start in and from the inside you can see the outside but then from the outside you can see the inside and I really don’t like it like that

I know I'm about 3 years late on this video and haven't gotten to your others so I'm not sure if you've already made these kinds of changes. I also was trying to use this as a starting from point 0 use of blender, but as a completely new user to the program it would have been useful if you had continued to display the visual key graphics you have for some of the shortcuts for things like extruding repeatedly as a reminder of the keys you need to use to accomplish some things. I found myself running into needing to go back to earlier parts to find the shortcuts and then returning to later parts of the video which had me getting lost a bit. I know these shortcuts were introduced moments prior but it can be easy to forget the exact keys when you're quickly being introduced to many within the span of a few minutes. Overall though it's quick and simple guide, but like I said at points it became hard to follow or replicate because you're going so quickly. All of the shortcuts and explanations are great but maybe not from a point of 0 experience in the program. Thanks for putting this up. EDIT: realized after I wrote this that in the bottom lefthand side of the screen it is showing the keys and buttons you're pressing. I'm officially a ding dong on the internet. My bad.

I've seen a lot of tutorials about modular buildings. Would you say that creating a building as a single model is still viable? Or maybe better in some regards?
