I just wanted to share this quickly. A cake decorating instructor once told me that the difference between amateurs like me and professionals like him is that he knows how to fix his mistakes. This video is proof of that. I have never seen a video like this one before. It's a keeper!! Thanks again. You made my day 💕

Just add some trex ( vegetable shorting) when needing the fondant before applying to the cake this will help to keep it pliable when your ready to put on the cake and easy on the cornstarch it dries it out

Thank you for sharing this! I hate making fondant cakes. Only tried a couple. I cringed at the beginning of this video bc it was exactly what I’ve gone through. Cracks and I also got creases. I think the creases because I panicked and smoothed it super fast to try to stop the cracking. Makes me want to practice more

Hi great explanations, thx u … just a doubt once we take the ganarish cake out from fridge, it melts … is it ok to put fondant on it … ? Once the cake is covered with fondant, do we need to keep in fridge or in room temperature?? Will the ganarish inside will melt or sweat …? If so how long we can jee the fondant cake outside?? Reply please… thx in advance
@GaelyCake Жыл бұрын
Hi! Thanks so much for watching. Cake should be covered in fondant while the icing is still hard. And while covering your cake with fondant, your room temperature should be cool enough to avoid the fondant from sweating or becoming watery. And after covering your cake with fondant, it should be stored in the fridge. Fondant cakes should be displayed in cool places. I usually put my fondant covered cake in a box before putting it in the fridge to avoid condensation when i take it back out of the fridge.

Plz tell how did the fondant got condensation... When u started touching it up with the brush....plz also tell how do v melt the fondant ..... Which u used with pallet knife.... And will the fondant dry afterwards
@GaelyCake4 жыл бұрын
Hello! Condensation happens when cake from the fridge is brought to a room with high temperature. When I brought out my ganache covered cake from the fridge, the kitchen temperature was around 28-30 degrees Celsius because I didn't turn the airconditioner on. While I was on the process of covering my cake with fondant, condensation started. The fondant cake became sweaty/watery. I just scraped the wet fondant with my bench scraper and my offset spatula. I used the wet fondant I collected from scraping to cover the broken parts of the fondant. The cake continued to sweat...so I took the opportunity to make it easier for me to brush up the broken lines on fondant without using any water on it. Condensation stopped after 2 to 3 hours in room temperature.

For sealing the fondant lines, have you dipped with water. In spatula also u dipped with water or mixed fondant with water for covering tht. Each time wen I'm covering the cake, so much cracks r coming like this
@GaelyCake3 жыл бұрын
Hi! Thanks for watching. When I covered this fondant, it became sweaty because of condensation, so water came out. Therefore, I didn't have to dip my spatula in the water to seal broken lines. I just collected the wet fondant from the cake itself, and used it to seal the broken lines. If your fondant didn't get sweaty, but have lots of broken lines, you can mix some of your fondant with water to make a paste, and then use it to seal the cracks.

Because the fondant is wet from condensation and the fondant used to cover the cracks is not a solid anymore, doesn't the color darken/change with this technique?
@GaelyCake3 жыл бұрын
If you are just using the same color of fondant to cover the cracks, the color should be the same.

These are the video tutorials, I want to see. Thank you so much for sharing. This had happen to me on my first try at fondant on a cake. I got super frustrated and threw everything away. May I ask why did the fondant Crack like that? Thanks.
@GaelyCake3 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much for watching. There are several factors why it happened to the fondant. 1. Fondant is too dry and not pliable enough. Be sure to knead the fondant well until it becomes pliable to prevent cracking. 2. The room's humidity is too high. Better turn on the airconditioner when working with fondant. 3. Condensation. Cake from the fridge tends to condense when taken out to room temperature, and when you cover it with fondant, the fondant becomes sweaty.

Can we keep the cake in refrigerator after covering it with whipping cream and then with fondant???
@GaelyCake3 жыл бұрын
Hello Janu Chinni. I don't use whipping cream on cakes if I cover it with fondant because whipping cream doesn't get hard. I use swiss meringue buttercream to frost the cake when I want to cover it with fondant. And Yes, you can put the cake covered in fondant in the fridge for a couple of days. But don't use whipping cream.

Hi! Thanks for watching my video. My fondant cracked because it was not pliable enough when I cover it on the cake. I should have knead it more. And later on, it got sweaty because of the high room temperature. I didn't turn on my air conditioner then. When it got sweaty, I scraped the sides of the fondant and collected the wet fondant and used it to patch on the holes or broken lines.

I have hard 3d fondant decorations to add to a hard fondant cake dummy. how can I "glue" the 3d pieces to the fondant? both are dried hard.
@GaelyCake3 жыл бұрын
Hi Terry, you need to put sticks (toothpicks for support) at the back of your 3D fondant and carefully poke it to your dummy fondant cake. Then, brush some water on the surface of the 3D fondant and cake to let them stick together.

You'd be surprised to know that it's not. Fondant does dry up when you use lots of icing sugay and Rolling it for a stretched period of time and when it's hot. Fondant breaks no matter how good of a quality it is. It happens unfortunately it happened to me last week
